Hi

I'm in the middle of training, doing courses for offshore work, BOSIET, MIST ect.

Anybody on here work offshore on the rigs or have family, partners who do?

Interested how other people got on. Can be hard to get on and in most cases its who you know, not what you know!

All info would helpful.

Thanks

I'm lucky enough to have connections on the rigs who have been on for years, pretty high up.

That's my only worry, £3000+ courses n nothing to show for it.

Do you know which jobs they are looking for?

I think this is a problem all over

loads of courses for you to spend what little money you have training,

but very few will tell you that it's a waste of time as there are no jobs to get at the end of the course,

The universities are full of McDonald's future staff with huge student loans looking for the very few jobs in there chosen field

Yeah that is a problem, unfortunately they wont even entertain you without your offshore survival ect.

they also have friends and family off shore, but like everyone else who is looking to go off shore, as for what jobs they are looking for it various, and yes it's expensive to do the course bit like all the x squadies who are looking for security work abroad ie CP, expensive with little chance of finding work
