"I like having things to look forward to. I need it, actually...but I'm really impatient and I'll obsess over whatever it is until it comes " Obsess over it? I get being impatient and having things to look forward to! It's a lovely feeling. I can be really patient and then occasionally my patience vanishes. I have to try not to be too annoying.

"In vanilla world, I will not wait. If I want it...I want it now. " Do you think that society today actively encourages that kind of behaviour? What I'm trying to say is, are people generally more impatient now? Maybe I'm more aware of it.

"I'm terrible at waiting for anything. To the point I feel very itchy in my stomach and want to cry. I skip reels because people take too long getting to the part I'm interested in. If I'm waiting for a parcel I constantly check the delivery details to see what's happening. If I'm waiting for a man I pace the room and pee every 5 minutes. " Oh Nana. 🩷 Yes, reels are irritating. I don't like presentations either. I'm quite a fast reader and have to temper my desire to move on with the fact that I'm being an impatient brat. ![]()

"I put on another thread that impatience is one of my weaknesses 🤣" Maybe it's a strength. Gives you the motivation and drive to see something through quickly... yeah can't spin that. ![]()

"No I don’t think so. If I want something, I want it.. and I’m very determined to get what I want at that point… The sooner the better.. Sometimes it’s a blessing, sometimes it’s a curse 😄. Regarding other people, I am very patient. Mrs" It does seem to wield that duality - the joy and anguish of it. Do you think that determination is ever a bit... erm much?

"waiting for things? Being patient. Gracefully. Do you plan ahead when it comes to Fab or prefer to keep it shorter term so less likelihood of things going tits up? Waiting has traditionally not been a strength but as I've gotten older I've gotten better - partly because my memory is now so bad that it doesn't take much for me to get distracted from things. Honestly it's been so long since I was in a position to meet anyone on Fab that planning doesn't enter into the equation. But the speed with which I might meet someone very much depends on the interaction - if there's an obvious connection in the conversation then maybe I could be happy to meet more quickly even if my nature is to want to be fairly confident and sure that meeting the person will be at least fun even if no sparks." Ha, so there's a positive to aging. Looking forward to it now, thanks whatyourcurrentnameishasslippedmymind. Yeah, the connection can sometimes mean waiting or saying fuck it. It's good to go with what feels right.

"I'm pretty patient on the whole. Especially here. I don't want one-night stands so I have to see the possibility of it lasting longer than that. I'm prepared to play the long game to get what I want. " That's a good point! You kind of have to be if you're wanting something else. Not a one. Always better to wait for what you want rather than settle for what's there. Maybe not always. Most of the time.

"When I was young I was quite impatient and used to impulse purchase , fast into relationships quite a lot but these days I’m total opposite and actually enjoy denying instant gratification and making myself wait. I think it’s better to wait & when the emotions settle you often realise it’s not really what you want or need - be that pizza Amazon purchases or people ![]() Do you think you've grown out of that impatience fully or do you still have lapses now, Notts? You are right; sometimes it's not even emotions, more lust. And then I give it some space and time and realise I don't *actually* want it. It's a good thing to do. A more rational approach.

It's good to go with what feels right. " Actually I'll tell you one way in which I've changed with age, alwayshasthesameusername. In my younger days, if I got something new - a CD, a DVD, some piece of technology - I'd want to listen/watch/play with it immediately. Now I am more likely to wait and put off the things I am most interested in, not I think for deferred gratification but because I will want to concentrate on them and my river of concentration is currently more of a trickle. But I do enjoy knowing I have it for when I'm ready for it - whatever it is.
