Dashcam recommendations

New forest area

Hi all,

I am interested in getting a dashcam for my car.

But what do you recommend?

Just a frint canera or back and front?

How long is the recording stored for etc etc.

Would of said a front only. As if your hit from behind. Your normally not going to be blamed.

However, someone I know got forced off a dual carriageway by a lorry that probably didn't know he was there and never stopped. So can see the point in rear dash cams.

I use a relatively old nextbase 512 I think, front cam only.

I use Sandisk 128Mb card. How often it overwrites the previous data is dependant on what settings you select: (Higher quality res & sound tend to bump the file sizes up.)

Nextbase cameras are good. Like Termite says the sd card size and file quality you choose dictates how often it overwrites previous files. They can be downloaded to a pc if you need to keep them. The front cameras aren't that big but should only be mounted up near the rear view mirror so it's out of the way and gives a good view. We had ours hardwired into car electrics by Halfords when we bought the camera from them

I've got a Nextbase 522GW with a plug in module that looks out the rear window, so I didn't have to worry about running cables. It's worth noting there are two physically identical plug in modules, one for looking at the rear seats and the one to look out the rear window.

I installed it using a Dongar adapter that takes power from the feed for the rear view mirror. When I changed cars earlier this year I removed everything bar the sticky pad on the windscreen in about five minutes and had it installed within 10 minutes with the spare sticky pad the dashcam came with. I'm not great at DIY.

I'm using it with a 128GB SanDisk Extreme MicroSD card.
