They are quite a bit of work with chemicals and regular cleaning. Depends how often you would use it.

I have a cheap one (lat-z-spa).

I love it.

Takes a while to heat up, but it's very relaxing

Wouldn’t even have one for nowt never mind paying to buy and run one

Was never a fan of them to start with but just done a patio where had to dig prep and lay one half then push the hot tub over and repeat on the other side which was a major annoyance and only increases my disdain for them haha

I would think the novelty would soon wear off as well.

We bought one of those dildo machines for Kelly about 8 months ago, think she's only used it 3 times.

It's lying in its box in the bottom of the wardrobe...lol

We’ve had this exact debate. Electric ones are far too costly to fun, wood burning ones are easy to over/under heat - and with the lack of privacy in our garden, it would be impossible to use it in the ways we would want to.

That said we’re away in a couple of days to place with a hot tub and we cannot wait!

A hot tub really relieves Mr N's pain and enables him to relax. A hot bath would have a similar effect but we have neither. He does use them when we're away but I rarely get in one having spoken to one too many people with nasty skin conditions picked up in them

I use my bread maker about twice a week on average. I do know loads are just gathering dust though

I'd be wary of the running costs, drought related issues, neighbours and the noise they may have thrust on them and would have to be really sure it was right for me and my situation and budget.

Sadly my friends down the road are in turmoil as these new inconsiderate people moved next door, put a tub right against their boundary fence and the noise when is on is horific and stops them enjoying their property and garden they have done for years. In fact has made them ill and considering moving. Just dispecable behaviour having fun at the expense of others. They are elderly too and feel so sorry for them

It really comes down to how much you’re prepared to spend. Paradoxically, the more you spend on one up front (going for one of the top brands like HotSpring, Jacuzzi, Arctic Spa, etc) the less it costs overall because the insulation is top end. It also means that the hydrotherapy will be worth it because the jet system is designed for actual massage, as opposed to cheaper brands that seem more interested in just the price to number of jets ratio. Buying something cheaper that seems to be a great bargain in comparison (basically, Chinese built models off the internet) just translates to higher ongoing costs and possible problems if you ever need parts.

Also, getting a tub that has a salt system (like Freshwater Salt) or is self-dosing (like Frog) is going to cut down massively on the amount of water maintenance.

If you invest in a top quality tub, then it is definitely worth it (and beyond it being for sex). If you want a bargain that’s really just for occasional fucking in, get a Lazy Spa.

That’s my tuppence-worth.

More difficult to regulate the temperature, so you have to be extra careful when using wood-burning tubs that you don’t accidentally poach your bathers, especially when alcohol is involved.

On the plus-side, they do make it a lot easier to be off-grid.

I love ours it's just too expensive to run since electricity went up. When we first got it our electricity was £100 per month, not too bad. Then, when the price increase happened it shot up to £300 per month. Its just too expensive.

Not worth the faff for me. I had one before and got rid. There are plenty of other people & places that have got them to use occasionally.

Yes it’s nice when meeting couples or singles all the occasional evening to relax even but it’s not essential

I would only use it once or twice a month for 30 minutes or soand it’s just not worth it when there are plenty of other people that have them and gyms with much better facilities.

I think you'd get bored quickly. Like a sandwich toaster.

I lived in a place with one there already, I used it twice.

My neighbour now has one and never uses it. The only thing its done is destroy her wooden decking.

And helping destroy the environment, those people that heat a big tub of outside water practically all year around, there should be a hot tub tax to deter it

I have an Arctic Spa hot tub which was already installed when I moved in. Yes it's a bit of work to maintain - a daily check for the chemicals with a 15 second dip test and then maybe add chlorine daily (overall takes about 3min). I have solar panels and a battery which does help, but it generally costs less than £1.20 a day. The initial heat up can be fairly energy intensive, but it just ticks over now.

It is fabulous after a day in the garden just jumping in and letting the jets sort out the back stiffness.

It won't be for everyone, but it works for me and my plan is to use it from spring to autumn and drain it for winter.
