Those that know me on here know I've bipolar disorder

In my work life I've never had to disclose it, as if I take time off when needed I'm great. Since starting my new job in February getting time off as been a major issue, I've even had to come back to work early as I've had no one to cover etc. I'm now feeling unwell and under pressure from work they want a shop that makes £1200 a week but situated it in a place that gets no foot fall

I know I can't make that a week and now it's making me very ill, I never disclosed I had bipolar as I felt I didn't need to, my 5 month probation is up mid June and I know they won't keep me on after poor sales, I'm scared now to tell them I've bipolar incase that goes against me. I need advise what to do. They know they picked the wrong location know but still won't admit it

I'm at a loss what to do

If the job is making you ill, I would say take another career path.

It sounds to me if you tell them they could fire you?

Well choccywoccy do you know what I say to that?

One door closes, another one opens

I think the strain of that will have anybody feeling unwell, The fact you have this condition will certainly have you under a lot more pressure. You've already mentioned they know its the location not you, there not supporting you and want a miracle, Ide look for something else ,. Living with bi polar is difficult and be proud that you can actually manage to go out to work. Good luck

Personally i would arrange a meeting with HR and explain the situation to them, if they are a decent company they will understand and take this into consideration. If not then you have lost nothing and can start looking for another job on the quiet

My main advice would be DO NOT let your job make you ill, no job is worth the risk of your heallth FULL STOP. Do not be afraid to speak to them as they have to take medical conditions into account and if they are shit about it then they are not worth working for in the first place

And fair play to you for being so honest on here that takes a lot x

They can't fire you because of your birthday polar but they also can't keep you on because if it either.

Deal with the facts of the situation such as poor sales etc. Have they increased at all sincerity have been there. Have any promotions worked best for you. Are you bound ny head office protocols or can you put your own offers on?? Can you do any local market research to find out what the people want from a shop etc.

If you can show you have been pro active in looking for solutions they will look more favourably on you than if you hide behind the low foot fall excuse. Foot fall should be just one customer stream, you should create local interest too and make people come to your store.

If your job is making you ill; find another job - especially if its why you're heading for a downward slide.

Its not worth your health.

From what you have written, you are in a no-win situation with the company expecting a revenue stream that it can never make and expecting you to somehow correct their mistakes. Start making a positive change to the situation by looking for something else now and focus your mind on finding a different job as a positive change for good.

Feel free to PM me if you wish.

Successful companies rely on constructive feedback from their employees,,,

It’s not sign of weakness to ask management for assistance and support when their business plan is falling short of their own targets …

Perhaps you could ask the owners to provide some fresh ideas to help bolster their original plan to generate the required £1200 per week sale in a shop located in that area….

It’s in their best interest to offer help if they genuinely believe those figures can be achieved,,,

It maybe they will need to readdress their original expectations ….

Mmmmm....I would agree with a previous poster and say talk to HR and be honest, that's if its a job you want to keep?

I'm not sure I know what Bi Polar is or how it affects people, can anyone educate me on this disorder!
