Secret hideaway in the pennines

Why, when you have read a message, do you not delete it straight away, if you are not going to reply.

Wouldn't it cut down the number of messages sitting in there, or do you just leave them till you have enough to bulk delete.

Are they left there for future perusal.

Before I started the delete after sending system, I noticed that a opened message could be sat for over a week or more.

I click messages back to unread after I've read them cause I knowvm it pisses people off. As for leaving them open I rarely delete messages

Personally, if I plan to reply 'later' I change it back to unread so it reminds me it's still there whenever I go into my inbox.

If I have no plan to reply, yes I delete immediately.

Mean. And too much effort.

You delve into dangerous mysteries stranger 😉

Some knowledge is best left alone.

Probably the same reason I do it, I mean to reply then get distracted, then forget about it or I get a message from an ongoing chat and move to that.

I don’t think there is any real thought behind it.

I sometimes read the message, and may be potentially interested but don't have time to read the full profile.

Then later on after reading, I may delete.

It does also give you a good indication if someone is going to pester you, as lots will quickly follow up with a "not your type?" "Thanks for ignoring me" message

Yep. This goes for me too. I had 3 last night do this. I’m rude and ignorant apparently.

One guy didn’t even spell hi right 🤷‍♂️

The message said “hu” 😳

People don't do admin on their mailboxes for the benefit of the disappointed sender. If they haven't replied, why do you need to know anything more? They are either not interested or it's not the right time. The answer is the same whether they tidy their mailbox or not.
