I’ve never been to broken up by a celebrity death

But Brittany Murphy stood out as she seemed to be riding a wave at the time.

Jill Dando the reporter as she was assassinated was shocking at the time.

I feel it more if an author dies it leaves a small gap.

Amy Winehouse. Because it was sad to see that slow decline of someone so talented.

But in general I don’t get affected by celebrity deaths because let’s be real, we don’t know them and they don’t impact our daily lives. Unless you have a parasocial relationship with them

Yeah I agree with Diana, Ami Winehouse, MJ, Chester, Tommy Cooper and others.

In motorsport, accidents and injuries are a constant risk but for me, Ayrton Senna, Dan Wheldon and Henry Surtees were shocking as I was watching live. Ayrton because it felt like he was invincible and Dan because that was a horrendous accident.

Wild Border Country of Herts & Middx/West London !

Still seems a little odd the Queen not being here.

Switched the telly on at around quarter to one that lunchtime just as the main channels were switching to "rolling news" coverage and you immediately sensed it was going to be 'the day'.

Went into town one day the following week, and as soon as the doors on the tube train opened at Green Park the smell of the flowers came wafting through the tunnels.

Oh god, i relate to this! My mum woke me up very early one morning, clearly in a lot of distress. It was obvious immediately that someone had died or something very bad had happened. My dad had gone (driving) on a trip abroad the previous evening, so of course 12 year old me instantly thought my dad was dead. Nope, he was fine, it was Diana It took me ages to recover from that!

None bc they're far removed from me. However, an odd experience was when I was living overseas in a place with no tv or radio when Michael Jackson died. News was often very late and passed on by fishermen. We heard he died and his body was buried and then mysteriously exhumed and disappeared.

There was much speculation as to how. I didn't know it wasn't true until I got home!

Shane Warne really hit me hard because it came from nowhere and I grew up watching him

As a wrestling fan, Eddie Guerrero and then later Chris Benoit, especially considering the horrific nature of the latter. And then more recently Bray Wyatt who was far too young.

I understand a tinge of fleeting sadness (for me Prince and George Michael) but not the outpouring of grief when someone you've never met dies and wouldn't bat an eyelid if they read of your death.

And what's with starting threads about people who've died and haven't been in the public eye that no-one has thought about for decades and all of a sudden "will be sadly missed"? Really? And the last time they entered your thoughts was when?

And don't get me started on the phrases "gone before their time" or "no age to die". Can someone please tell me when it's a person's time to die? As far as I'm aware people die at all ages from 1 minute old to 120 years, there is no fixed span for your time on earth.

Signed

I feel less sorry for his death than the three other people he killed. One of his own sons, a friend and the friend’s son. I’ve read the accident report and he was showing off and flying the helicopter far beyond his ability and like an utter moron.

Generally celebrities don't mean enough for me to get upset about their deaths, but I did feel sad for snooker champ Paul Hunter who died of cancer at 27. He was the same age as me and it certainly made me contemplate my mortality.

This is one that'll make me sad. I'm reading a biography about him now "Life on Air". An extraordinary man.

I'm also sad about the fact many young people don't know who he is.

There's a huge list for me for various reasons, many of whom have already been mentioned. Chester, Freddie, Chris Cornell, Taylor Hawkins, Avicii, Sean Lock, Rick Mayall etc.

One not mentioned so far is Andy Whitfield, the original Spartacus actor. At the time it happened it was obviously sad but having watched the documentary he made (Be Here Now) it's heartbreaking to see the impact cancer has on someone with a young family.

Always a sad moment when you hear people’s lives being cut short and it seems so many celebrities / people of fame go too soon.

It’s also easy to forget sometimes that they are not around anymore, some ‘oh yeah’ moments reading this list.

Think Princess Diana and George Michael were the two that really stood out as ‘can’t believe it’ moments.

Sure there are and will be others. RIP in you 🌟
