Sheffield

A couple of years ago I stopped buying peaches in the uk because to be frank they were shit. All of a sudden we started getting dry horrible peaches. Don't get me wrong there was the odd juicy one but it was becoming too much of a gamble and I couldn't take anymore disappointment. So I decided not to buy peaches in the uk anymore..... it was a tough decision at the time but I got through it by turning to other handy sized fruits such as apples, oranges and bananas.

Just as I had begun to get over this fruit nightmare I'm sorry to report that I'm starting to get the same problem with apples. I bought three different brands of apples this week and guess what...... all FUCKIN DRY. I can't take this shit anymore.... I don't want to play fruit roulette. Why is uk fruit becoming so shit. What's next.... dry oranges? I've already been forced to eat a hard pear.

I'm moving to spain.

Bridgwater - Somerset

Buy fruit when in season from farm shops - apples, pears soft fruit from local growers.

Storage time for fruit in cold stores is forever - much fruit is picked unripe and is supposed to ripen in transit.

Buy ripe bananas, peaches etc. where they're grown is a revelation.

Must be warm and juicy, not out of the fridge.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I've been happy with nectarines (although I haven't had one this year). I like pears to be hard though.

Try something from a local grocers.

You should try before you buy. Cut a wedge off each peach before you buy it. If it's dry... don't buy it.

Those funny flat peaches? I only saw those for the first time up near Arse End a few years ago and then they were everywhere. They don't look right but do taste delicious.
