Can’t afford a proper holiday this year so looking for suggestions for a staycation at home, some place off the beaten track maybe, near a beach and walking routes

You've got a lot of coastline 'up there' haven't you? I've been to Whitby some time ago, must be something affordable/picturesque near there or one of the quieter bits of coast.

Manchester(ish).

Visit West Cumbria, it's lovely, less busy than the Lake District and there's plenty to do.

Ps, there's not many fabbers out west.

Wales would suit you down to the ground!

A lovely coastal village is Barmouth on the west coast! Beach hills walks access to snowdonia national park and lots of places to stay in and around the area, 5-10 mins outside Barmouth I know there are lots of pods with hot tubs in the mountains xxc

Pembrokeshire, which is also steeped in history was once described to me as, "The thinking man's Cornwall." It has a lot of varied coastal scenery without getting overcrowded, you can take boat trips to islands etc or explore The Preseli mountains which are not too challenging. Also in Scotland The Fife coastal path passes through some picture post card fishing villages, as well as having some dramatic scenery along the way, even a chain walk at a place called Elie. Again there's a lot of ancient and modern history to be enjoyed if that's your thing, from St Andrews being the legendary grave of St Andrew, with its parks that are free to visit, to Scotland's secret nuclear bunker or the Scottish fisheries museum if the weather is against you. Very reasonably priced accommodation can be found at either location.

I recently went to Bath and stayed at a caravan resort it was amazing weather was fantastic it's got beach area couple places are driving distance we found a waterfall i definitely want to go back!
