If the UK comes last in Eurovision this week then I'm DEFINITELY voting to exit the EU!

If we win - I'll vote to stay

Anything in between - vote for an attempt to renegotiate our position

East Manchester

What Cameron will get is small concessions and promises not worth the cost of the paper they are writtern on. Our governemt has no say in anything anymore, all changes and regulations have to be voted on by other members so if the majority say no then its tough luck.

There are a large number of countries who get more out of the EU than they put into it, if the UK backs out then there is less in the pot to dish out to them, likewise if the UK gets back exactly what it puts in then there is no point in it staying in.

Anyone noticed that the majority of politicians (especially ex-chancellors) were in favour of continued membership until the EU wanted to tax financial transactions then they were all for leaving? as the UK is a financial service based economy it would hit our bankers the hardest and the politicians would annoy their mates in the financial sector because bankers would lose some bonuses, is that why there is a push to hold a referendum because there was never anything said about pulling out when the manufacturing sector being destroyed by EU policies or am I being cynical?

CARDIFF

I always considered myself a European and have very many European friends.

However, how long can you pay into something you get less back from, I think European immigration policies have fundamentally changed the U.K. in too short a time frame and whilst I once thought the Euro was an excellent idea, I now believe it to have been an unmitigated disaster

I am in the stay in camp. Think about this for a moment most big businesses in uk are foreign owned and should we leave the european market they will move to other europoean areas to pky their trade.

As example being nissan they employ thousands here its not because the business sells more cars here than elsewhere its just a staging post.

Anyone who we are anything bar a warehouse nation because we hardly make and sell own goods anymore as manufacturing industries via various governments was allowed to die.

Yes we pay to europe but also get lots in return do not forget the rebate. As a proportion of gdp we are one of lowest contributors involved.

How many places do you come across which have signs etc fundex by euopoean economic development funds.

It is not so simple as in or out anyone who really thinks as a nation it will improve us is in my view living in cloud cuckoo land.

If it was not for europe wide agreements there would ve zero rights for workers etc.

Yes i agree there are problens that need sorting but an out vote is not the way.

It's true that the costs of leaving Europe are completely understated by the Europhobes - but the real and only reason for a referendum is to save the Conservative party from UKIP.

But the more important question is where the competition could ever fall to a Lordi type heavy metal band again.

I certainly hope so. Where's my monster outfit?

No they wont, as we are already seeing with France the cash flight is away from the EU not towards it.

As example being nissan they employ thousands here its not because the business sells more cars here than elsewhere its just a staging post.

While you are partly right on that one, ask yourself this. Why do Puegeot make so many cars in the UK? Could it be something to do with the size of the UK market they want to tap in to?

Anyone who we are anything bar a warehouse nation because we hardly make and sell own goods anymore as manufacturing industries via various governments was allowed to die.

Yes we closed a lot of the old heavy industry, but Britain is still a leading manufacturer of high quality high tech products that deserve a world wide market, not inhibited by Brussels protectionism.

Yes we pay to europe but also get lots in return do not forget the rebate. As a proportion of gdp we are one of lowest contributors involved.

Total nonsense. Britain is the second (only behind Germany) highest net contributor.

How many places do you come across which have signs etc fundex by euopoean economic development funds.

Lots in Spain, very few in the UK or in Germany.

It is not so simple as in or out anyone who really thinks as a nation it will improve us is in my view living in cloud cuckoo land.

And Van Rumpoy, Schultz, and Barosso are on planet earth?

If it was not for europe wide agreements there would ve zero rights for workers etc.

Tell that to the TUC.

Yes i agree there are problens that need sorting but an out vote is not the way.

Oh yes it is. The Brussels elite are hell bent on creating a federal Europe including the abolition of the nation state. At the moment it is being controlled by an unelected commission answerable to no-one. Only an in out vote in Britain and other country's will bring them to heel.

The statistics both in faviur of how much we pay in and get out can and are twisted by both parties.

I am in favour of being in eu.

We are in a global market now and whether folk like it or not when we as in uk try to get seperate trade deals with say usa we are weak whereas when the eu as one tries it works as strength in numbers.

The eu has benefits as well as problems we cannot and should not be able to pick and choose which law we wilk follow or not.

Remember we also have our share of meps from all parties and also have judges on the circuit in europe so to just say the usual shite about foreigners in human rights cases deciding what we do fact is we participate in decisions but folk believe the little englanders delusions.

Sorry but thats rubbish, thousands upon thousands of jobs in mainland europe are reliant on trading with the uk, do you really think they would stop trading with us if we left the EU, and throw all that money, jobs down the toilet?

This is the kind of rubbish Labour and the Lib dems always come out with trying to scaremonger people into staying in the EU. We are one of the worlds largest economies, and London is one of the most important financial and trade capitals in the world. Would other countries really shun us if we were outside the EU, i seriously doubt it. Also we are more than capable of making our own trade deals with the USA. We need to look beyond the EU and the USA, and make trade deals with the upcoming global financial and economic superpowers like China and India. Also i would much prefer we did more business with our partners in the commonwealth, which is what the UKIP position is.

From the Mail:

"However he said all policies were under review pending the party’s new manifesto for 2015, to be published after the European elections in May.

He claimed it would be ‘similar in flavour’, but the only policies he would commit to yesterday were bringing back grammar schools and leaving the EU.

Mr Farage floundered as he was asked about the party’s proposal to scrap Trident, saying he was not sure the suggestion had come from.

When told it was on the Ukip website, he said: ‘When it comes to websites, I’m not the expert.’ He also claimed not to know about a compulsory dress code for taxi drivers and proposal to repaint trains."

So they ask people to elect them to be MEPs with no manifesto but to leave the EU and then they'll work out the other details of what their policy will be.

Its very easy to find this stuff on youtube people, just do a simple youtube search "Nigel Farage Commonwealth" and dozens of videos will pop up.

The EU is a basket case, just look at the state of the euro currency, thank fook we did'nt listen to the Lib dems and join the euro, otherwise we could end up on the same road to ruin as Greece, Portugal, Cyprus, now possibly Spain and Italy. France's economy is wobbling and if they need a bailout the euro and the EU will really be finished.

Keep the British pound and get the fook out of the EU as soon as possible is what we need to do in this country.

Clinging to British Colonial past by bringing up the Commonwealth either shows naivity on the part of Farage or contempt for his followers. By contempt I mean that he knows he is offering a up an argument with little substance but he also knows his followers will give blind faith and not think it through.

A simple question. What stops a business in the UK trading with a country outside of the EU now right now.

"What Cameron will get is small concessions and promises not worth the cost of the paper they are writtern on.

Well said

as usual its apparent whenever they are pressed on other area's of policy, the pretty important stuff for us as a society that they are lacking in anything coherent..

of course that may be cos they're keeping said policies to their chest till just before they launch their manifesto in 2015..

or it could be they are a single issue pressure group with not many credible ideas beyond immigration..

Foreign companies avoid paying taxes of around £120 Billion a year because of the EU. In fact they don't even pay taxes in the Euro zone either because the likes of Starbucks are registered in tax havens.

So if we come out of the EU that's £120 billion a year better off already. The deficit is £120 billion a year so that cancels that out at a stroke with no more cuts.

Not to mention saving £9 billion a year in subscriptions to the EU & the masses we have to keep on the dole because foreigners have priced them out of the job market.

This EU is a completely stupid left- wing wank fantasy which is impoverishing people all over Europe.

No just my summary from my life experience. As with virtually ALL immigrants, my reasons were purely economic. I spent 11 years in 6 different countries & was an illegal immigrant fighting deportation myself.

I've also have been self-employed for 27 years & I've always been fascinated by politics & economics.

I've learnt a lot along the way, including how to look through Socialist bs. High tax/spend economies do not work. Socialism always, always runs out of other peoples money.

Five Labour Governments in British history. They left Britain in financial ruin five times & leaving unemployment higher every single time.

Socialists do not understand money. they do not understand how it is made nor how to retain it. All they know is how to spend, spend, spend.

McDonald.

Attlee.

Wilson.

Wilson/Callaghan.

Blair/Brown.

That was five last time I looked.

I suppose, if you really wanted to split hairs, you could include the hung parliament (also led by McDonald) of 1924 to make it six.

On the other hand you could count each general election victory as a separate government, for example making the Blair /Brown years three separate governments, but as it was pretty much the same lot that was re-elected that would really be stretching credibility.

So I'm happy with five and as previously said, they all made a total bollox of running the economy.

No not at all. You cannot make the poor rich by making the rich poor. A high tax economy means that the poor pay more in taxes than they should. The introduction of the ridiculous "Tax-credits" system is an example. People on low wages supplemented by benefits to boost their income. Yet Companies have record profits. Why not just tax people less rather than take money off people, assess their every penny by a faceless jobsworth only in order to give some of their confiscated money back. Completely mental if you ask me.

They take money with one hand, let the big company pay less than a living wage

The supermarkets employ most staff for 29 hours on minimum rate to avoid taxes for example & then the member of staff in most cases gets benefits. Why not employ less people full time on a living wage?

The answer of course is that it would cost the Supermarket a fortune in taxes. Stupid Governments putting taxes on jobs means less jobs!

Winning three consecutive terms in a row is one Labour Government yes. The B.Liar & Gormless Brown years. Just like when Maggie won 3 in a row it was the "Thatcher Government"

I do notice how you try & split hairs, the fact of the matter is, is that if you vote Labour, you vote for National bankruptcy every time.

5 Labour governments too many if you ask me. Dread to think what will happen if Egg Miliband and Ed Balls-up get into Power, as all their predictions so far about the economy flatlining and unemployment rising have been wrong. They are clueless fuckwits.

It was in the news this week that the IMF have revised our rate of growth up from 1.9% now to 2.4% and Ed Balls-up wants to throw a spanner in the works. Labour cannot be trusted running the economy and they have a well proven track record to prove it.
