"would you get up close for a selfie? "

People tend to worry about the wrong animals. A lot of apex predators have zero interest in people as we aren't seen as prey.

A lot of shark attacks happen because surfers get mistaken for seals.

The really dangerous animals are large herbivores who see people as a threat.

Getting gored by bulls, boars, bison, buffalo.

Territorial hippos kill hundreds of people a year.

A horse or zebra kick can easily disembowel you as can an emu, ostrich or cassowary.

Kangaroos will absolutely mess people up.

Treat all wild animals with respect.

I think lots of people just don't understand about animals.

You only need to look at internet videos of absolute fools laying their babies next to pet dogs or letting toddlers kiss dogs on the mouth that they've just finished licking their bums with.

my favourite Yellowstone anecdote is a tourist asking a park ranger why all the bins were tightly locked. The park ranger replied that this is because there is a significant overlap between the smartest bears and dumbest humans.
