If your partner was to change dramatically (lose weight, put on weight, cosmetic surgery etc) would it change your feelings towards them?

I guess this could include any disfigurement etc from accidents or illness as well.

definitely not ... would support him all the way

he did offer me a boob job .. some women would have taken this as an insult and assumed it meant my boobs weren't up to scratch but I took it the way it was intended and thanked him but declined the offer

No ... You love the person.

I remember my mums 'boyfriend' doing a runner when she got ill. She was still the same beautiful person inside - shame he was a gutless one

With stuff that's gone on this week with J both of us could have said, "I'm sorry but I can't do this." That hasn't happened.

However, ironically it may seem, that when Dad died and my relationship with my ex broke down, my so called best friends did a bunk when they couldn't cope. I went off the rails, found swinging and fab and now have brilliant friends.

Its not about the destination, its about the journey.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I suppose it would depend on the state of the relationship before the change. Sometimes the change provides a handy reason/excuse to end or exhibit discontent.

Feelings may not change but the adjustment may lead to the other person changing their feelings.

(She/ her) in Sensualityland

I think if somebody undergoes a dramatic change like weight loss (could be deliberate) or experiences a trauma it has an effect on their personality and that would more likely be what causes difficulties; not the trauma or the weight loss or whatever but the underlying change in goals, ambitions, self worth... whatever.

It is likely that will have an effect on the relationship, either way.

Some people are not strong enough to deal with major changes, and ive met those who are brilliant in doing so and those who couldnt hack it. More in a work situation etc...like when a partner has a serious illness like dementia.etc.. Big changes re looks or circumstances either brings the best out in a person...or the worst.

And we wont know until it happens

Ah see .... I know a woman and her husband had a head injury that totally changed him. He turned from a passive man into a man who was psychotic and had episodes. He tried to kill her on a couple of occasions .... she left him rightly so because the person who he was had changed completely .

i met my hubby when i was 17 so i am pretty sure i dont look the same now as i did then, neither does he and we have been married for 30 years.

obviously you would prefer to see someone looking fit and healthy but we all get old and we all get sick.

it doesnt stop you loving someone and caring about them though.

Wow!

Of all the things I've read on here, that is about the lowest.
