Are you applying or just changed your LinkedIn to ‘open to work’

Next Door

I was job hunting for 3 months and used lots of different job websites including LinkedIn. And local recruitment agencies.

I had my profile open to all, and it said activity looking for a new role and applying to roles daily.

My advice is to copy some of the job specs into your CV profile, and add the expected salary bracket, make sure the job spec bit and salary is in white rather than black. The words from the job spec get picked up by AI and then you are usually through to your CV being in front of a person.

Just keep applying. I applied for around 100 roles.

You have to get found on LinkedIn it’s a waste of time applying for jobs. It’s a bit like here you have to make your profile match what people are looking for and then they will come to you.

I had an interesting conversation with a recruiter a couple of years ago wanting to place me with a client but said he would’ve never found me on my keywords so it’s really important that you work with the recruiters and find out how they search for the roles you want.

I’m not sure about the UK but definitely for the UAE and US anything over about £10,000 a month you are gonna have to access the hidden job market. It is really is not a free market where you get jobs based on merit

There’s a better way to do this and get through ATS scanner than Hidden text plus if your profile gets checked by LinkedIn, you’ll get banned for life. And you would have to adjust your profile for every single application.

Much easier to work with small

Number of recruiters & roles and and they will write your CV & profile for you for free. If you are applying for hundreds it’s not gonna work it’s like sending hundreds of messages on here. You have to be very very specific and any job you go for you will already be down the last two or three candidates.

South Newton

Two of my last two jobs I was head hunted, the one in the middle I applied for. The first line in my CV was rather opaque and obscure, they told me they just had to know the whole story, so they called me in.

It probably will not work again lol.

What kind of role? Usually the first place to start is looking at the skills you have, or the job you do, and looking for that same thing here.

That’s bad advice. The software can tell you’re keyword spamming and you’ll get filtered out.

If the applicant somehow doesn’t get filtered and the recruiter sees your cv, they’ll think it’s not relevant and remove them as a candidate.

You can’t fake experience. You have to really have it.

One thing I’ve learned is that tailoring your cv to each job really helps. Yeah it’s a ballache but it really works.

Alternatively go via a recruiter and they’ll get you an interview with no hassle
