"My favourite is the version of conte par tiro by Bocelli I've never heard such utter beauty. " Indeed is beautiful. I was lucky to see a live performance few years back. Magnifico!

"Too high brow for me though I do like Madame Butterfly." Nothing really high brow about opera and arias and classical music I don't think. It is just that sometimes not everyone had an opportunity to listen to it. Then again my music taste is so varied I could fill an entire HMV shop from Black Sabbath to Kylie and the 3 tennors ![]() ![]() ![]()

"I’m a huge fan of all of Vivaldi’s arias but then I am a huge fan of pretty much everything he did. Being a violinist his music “sings” to me. My other favourite is Handel’s Messiah and the arias through that are incredibly deep and thought provoking ♥️" Great to see another Handel enthusiast. His operas have always been my favourites although I'm beginning to appreciate French baroque opera nearly as much.

"Ebben? Ne andrò lontana" ("Well, then? I'll go far away," act 1, from La Wally sang by American soprano Wilhelmenia Fernandez in Jean-Jacques Beineix's 1981 movie Diva." How could I have forgotten this?

"You certainly know your arias from your elbow, MB." Now if you mix "Ebben? Ne andrò lontana" with Elbow's "Kindling" ( but has to be the duet with John Grant version) .... goosebumps
