I don't see it as rude OP. I think they're doing you a favour as they're not people you'd be compatible with, and it means you won't see them again. That means you won't run the risk of sending them another message in the future if you've forgotten you had messaged them previously.

It also means you don't have to send another message and can use that energy to find people you will be compatible with.

North East Scotland, mostly

I often use the block button as a filter. If someone’s not for me, blocking means we won’t be able to contact each other in a few months once we’ve forgotten why we didn’t click the first time. It’s not a personal slight.

I block so they don't message again when they forget they already have.

Frankly, yes. It happens often enough that many people don't even give the no thanks before the block because it simply isn't worth the hassle of people's inability to deal with rejection.

Blocking isn't rude or some kind of power move. It's simply removing each other from the others feeds so neither party wastes any time reading profiles or messaging someone when it's already established as a no 💜

Lots of times we've had the person we've said not interested in too message months later asking the same questions because they have forgotten, so thats why we do it.

I quite often do this. Because when I reply with a no, it leads to further dialogue from the sender.

I don't care if it's rude or not .

You have just 'had a go' so...

Blocking is their way of ensuring you don't have the inconvenience of seeing them again.

They replied to the op. Manners and general decency don't require more.

You say it’s rude and makes you glad that you’re not mixing with them so surely them blocking you is doing you a favour as you say so that you don’t have to mix with that calibre of people

I block too - It saves any further dialogue, people “forgetting” they’ve messaged before and trying again, and the abuse from people who can’t take a polite no thanks. I’d say a good 1 out of 3 people would try and continue the dialogue or resort to abuse when I replied to everyone.

I'm one of those peeps I'm afraid.

If I say no thanks, I block. It's not personal, but stops any come backs like I didn't wanna meet you anyway you (insert insult) or why not etc.

Some people can't deal with rejection nicely, unfortunately op.

It also protects them in case you turn abusive or constantly ask why they're not interested. I'm not saying you would OP, but many rejected members do.

I don't actually think it's rude to block someone. I do it fairly often if men message me and basically state in their message that they've ignored my preference and messaged me anyway.

That shows that they do mot respect my preference or boundaries so in that case I just delete or block.

Blocking, whether or not there has ever been any interaction, is a very sensible action to take, when there is clear unsuitability.

It prevents anyone ever wasting effort in future, which is really positive
