In a non-sexual way!

Let’s try this again 😍

It could be another fabber, another man in your life or a celebrity who you respect.

And I’m particularly here for men who lift each other up (in a non-sexual way) 😆

My best mate. Been friends since we were 7. He is a mirror image of me as a person. Also my younger (the middle one of 3) brother. Closer than we are to parents.

Apart from my husband who is very principled, well informed and able to fix or build just about anything (as well as being very good looking with great legs) it's men with compassion and empathy

My older brother.

He was always there for me when I needed him as a teenager and is still there for me if I need him now. He is far from mushy, but cares for his own.

You can see the love between him and his wife of 30 years to this day which astounds me. He is content with his lot which also seems rare.

Sagittarius A

My oldest friend, we met at nursery school.

He is true to his word, where it matters. Resolute in the face of adversity, but in touch with his emotions. I recall once being hauled in front of the head with him and the head went full on intimidation. Two lads had tried to jump me and Bob saw them and tailed them himself. The two lads came off a lot worse than we did.

Bob felt internally what he had done was just and wouldn't be bullied by anyone into accepting it was wrong. And as that head got frustrated and said how much do you weigh, I'm 15 stone think you can take me on? Practically spitting in our faces. Without flinching 15 year old Bob said 13 and half - I'd give it a go... sir.

Bob knows the meaning of pals, he is a brother from another mother. He is kind and caring, strong but does not impose himself on others and he is fucking hilarious, when people attempt to do so to him. He has many admirable qualities, but that's what I admire most about Bob.

So on here, I admire Beef, Tea, Pickle and Obi for their humour, sense and values. Nude Law and Willy make me laugh too. There are many more amazing men on here but these spring straight into mind for me.

Eva’s mention of Terry Pratchett really resonated, I think often of Vimes’ economic theory of boots and true it is.

Men who can show their kindness and empathy without it being performative are very much the men I admire ❤️

Reading

My Uncle Steve. Kindest, gentlest man ever. He used to always have a guitar close to hand and whenever he saw me (which wasn't often, sadly) he'd play his guitar along to him singing badly this one particular song he'd only sing for me. I used to pretend to like formula one just so we could hang out together and I liked listening to him talk about it all excitedly. He was peace when everyone and everything else in my life was chaos. He died 15 years ago and just thinking about him makes me well up with tears.

Dubai & Nottingham

My mate who died, he was extreme bipolar like nothing you can imagine, when he was high he would design and build houses for disabled people securing millions in funding or remortgaging his own place to do projects for friends or even strangers sometimes! He was always smiling and encouraging me to take a massive risks in every area of my life.

He would knock me up at 4 am in the summer to go on bike rides and anttend early morning prayer meetings with other nutters . When he was on Lows he would come wild camping and forget to bring any equipment. Wander off in the night when he couldn’t sleep & was bored get lost on Kinder Scout in thick fog and have us calling mountain rescue.

My cousin who died when he was 24, he was them most kind, compassionate person I have ever met, he was so intelligent, it makes me sad to think of the things he could have gone on to acheive, but it also makes me happy to think of the time I had him in my life.
