So I'm going away on business to Bristol next week, and in their wisdom I've been booked in to a Travelodge ...

it's convenient and clean, but I'dve preferred a Premier Inn, as I think it's that much more comfy.

What are everyone's preferences for budget or business hotels ?

I'm a regular 'Lodger' - and whilst it's often the case that some Premier Inns are newer and have slightly more up to date rooms/beds - i've had no problems staying in huge numbers of Travelodges.

Whichever you choose the biggest ball ache if you're meeting is the need to go and let people in - but at the end of the day they're comfortable and usually have parking on site. What more do you need?

Holiday inn always seem ok, not the express ones though, I do prefer premier inn over travel lodge, campanile are rubbish

Stopped at a Tavel inn while in Cambridge and never Again, but you get what you pay I guess

I have only ever met once in a hotel

It was a Malmaison, far more befitting of my social standing than a Travelodge (with be a professional and all that)

SERIOUS ANSWER NOW

I have no allegiance to hotel chains, whatever has the best solution for me at the time of booking, gets the booking.

Maybe I have been spoiled, but I have always chosen to stay at one of the marriott hotels.

Their food is spot on, there is usually a spa/gym in each location and parking is usually on cctv so your car is safe too.

There is usually a consierge on the main entrance at all times and provided your guests know your name and room number they will be given directions to your room without question so there is no need to meet at the door.

Just make sure your guests leave and not stop the night as they will then be classed as guests of the hotel and your card will be charged.

p.s. Don't use their bar as its the most expensive place to buy a drink I know.

Unfortunately the budget doesn't stretch to Malmaison, Mercure, Radisson etc.

However, for personal bookings, I always go for the best 4* + deal I can find

After staying I hotels regularly for over 10 years, I admit to having become a bit of a hotel snob. Late rooms is always good for a decent hotel at the last minute, if its work though, usually one of the higher end chains.
