Lately I've got to the point that I need music on to help me sleep. I've taken to listening to virgin Chilled as there's not much chat and lots of easy list music.

Anyone have a similar habit? If so what's the choice of music?

When I had trouble sleeping a few years ago, I'd listen to All Quiet On The Noise Floor, by Jason Falkner. Start to finish. I'd be asleep after two or three songs, and always wake up at the same point in the final song in the album. Just long enough to sleepily grin and remove my earphones, then right back to sleep. No idea what it is about that album, but works every time for me

I watch YouTube videos of a S Korean man camping with his little dog, in all weathers.

The sounds and music from the videos are relaxing and take my mind off of my tinnitus. Also, watching him set up his tent and gear, cooking and eating his meals and going for walks in the countryside or mountains relaxes me.

There's also a man who builds shelters out in the wilds too, that I like to watch.

There's usually some kind of asmr thing going on.

Even just my S Korean man slurping his noodles keeps my mind occupied.

Last night he was camping in a thunderstorm.

another 'rain' listener here, mix it up by chosing where to listen...

rain on a tent

rain in a car

rain on a tin roof

rain in a jungle

Also like the occasional space cockpit with radio chatter, but if I'm going to sleep with someone to listen to, it's Alan Watts every time...

Yes, the alarm is loud and the earplugs don't block it out 100%. They just dampen the noise considerably. Never slept through an alarm and I've used earplugs at night for years after living in the city centre and struggling with sleep and nighttime noise.

I can sleep without them but it takes me longer to get off to sleep and I'm easily woken.

I think I've just become used to it 😂

If I have noise at night it has to be consistent noise than doesn't change, like rain noise or white noise. No music or talking. My brain can't switch off.

If you're having trouble sleeping check out sleep hygiene (no, it not all about clean bedding). Limit caffeine, screen time... all sort of things.

Exercise is a huge one.

I lie listening to the constant whistle of tinnitus. I've lived with it for so long, on the odd occasion it's not there I can't sleep for the silence.

Occasionally when the insomnia kicks in, I give up and don't fight it. My brain obviously wants to do something, so I find it something to do.

When the Mr is over, we have the podcast 'there's no such thing as a fish' on in the background. If he isn't here, I just have silence. I don't tend to like loud noise when I sleep, a background mumble I can get away with, it helps being completely deaf on one side though. If it's too noisy, I sleep on my good side, problem sorted!
