Just wanted to say how incredibly impressed I am with the completely free and discreet STI testing service from SH.UK. I've never done one before (naive of me, I know) but after some initial trepidation, found it was an incredibly quick and easy process.
I registered on the SH.UK website and initially tried to order my test kit on Thursday last week, but there were none left available that day. Apparently new batches get released at midnight, so early hours of Friday morning, I logged on again and managed to order one. It was dispatched during the day on Friday, and pushed through my letterbox by Royal Mail around 11am on Saturday - very quick dispatch/delivery service.
I completed the 4 tests - urine sample, throat swab (like COVID test), rectal swab (like COVID test, but at the opposite end - don't get these mixed up!). Blood sample was trickiest - I struggled to extract enough blood from the finger pricks (3 attempts) but managed it in the end. Then - back in the post box, around 11:30am - missing the Saturday post collection, unfortunately.
Now, bearing in mind this weekend was a Bank Holiday, my samples will have sat in the post box until sometime Tuesday. I got an email notification just after lunch on Wednesday morning that results were available, logged on and retrieved them. All in all, an incredibly quick service, especially considering the weekend/bank holiday hold-up.
All very discreet. An email address to login and order the kit, and to collect results - you could use a temporary one, if you wanted. A mobile number, to setup the login and a very discreet parcel through my letterbox, which simply had to be put back in the postbox once you've gathered the samples. I guess the only tricky bit might be the postal address to initially receive the kit. There were options to "deliver to an alternative address" during the ordering process, that could be useful for some people though.
Anyway - hopefully this will be useful information to help others who might have been considering getting tested, but be nervous about it, to go and do so!  |
I can literally order it on a Monday and get results by Friday.
We have to phone for an appointment, and it’s hard to get through, then attend in person. I feel it will put people off as it’s a pain.
