I got a small loaf of bread at a supermarket because it was nearing its use by date. I paid 60p for it.

But if I remember correctly, I used to get a massive loaf of delicious freshly baked granary bread for 60p in 2004!

We ate gorgeous fish and chips yesterday (with scraps) for £8.99 a portion. Couldn’t believe it

I got some a bag of Festival from a take away last weekend and had change out of a fiver.

I think the guy took pity on me because the man before bought the last Lamb patty and I was gutted.

Doughnuts, they used to be so much cheaper. You would get a bag of them for a quid, when I was a kid. Now it's like 2 quid for one mini doughnut that's been sat there for half a day.

Unhealthy food is half the price of fresh fruit and veg

Bun. Hardough bread. Even garlic. I remember the time you could go get all the 'yard' food (including fish or meat) and have change from £20. Now you need a small mortgage

So I get through a lot of tomato purée I think I have about 20 tubes in the pantry currently that’s maybe one months worth. I’m sure last time I was in the UK they were about 35p and this year they seem to be 70p , like they have doubled in price in a couple of years

I was bought up in West London and I remember my dad telling me that the ice cream man at the serpentine used to rip off tourists by charging them 99p for 99 ice cream 😂

Look at all of the popular items if they haven’t raised the prices then they’ve done the classic shrinkage trick and reduced the sizes by noticeably large amounts. Some companies just use the shrinkage trend to make even larger profits.

Luckily I don’t need their calorie control intake help . I’m very disciplined with what I eat and exercise and swim daily. That’s why all of the manufacturers have the crazy offers on the unhealthy food which I don’t eat anyway.

I used to know a guy who run a fish and chip shop and I asked him why are you the most expensive. He basically said while the demand is there I will be but when it falls off I will be the cheapest. We are at that tipping point now or approaching with all trades, goods and services. Unfortunately a lot have had it good for a while and don’t know better and thinking when it drops off I’ll put my prices up not understanding that business is about consistency. DIY, dining and drinking at home are now becoming favourable again.
