I’ve had to teach myself to express them, because suppressing them leads to much more unhappiness

I used to suppress them but have learned to express more whether that be verbal or interpretive dance! I do my best to not get angry or stressed and just let go off negativity.

What about you Sparkle?

There are some very personal emotions I do suppress but usually I lay my cards on the table and say exactly what's on my mind x

As long as you have an outlet for them then I think you’re in a very healthy place. It’s good to speak your mind so that people know where they stand x

Suppress usually unless it's something extreme. Annoyingly it can get to the stage that when I express myself people are taken aback.

In the west.

I tend to suppress mine, just a typical man. I know that is not good though especially if something or someone annoys me as I keep suppressing it, sometimes for weeks on end, then I vent it 🌋🌋🌋.

I know isn’t good but throughout my life I found it easier to hide my emotions rather than let anyone in and then tell others my private business.

There's a squisher-downer-cat meme for this. 🤣 But actually I'm getting better with it.

I'll sit with the feeling first, feel it physically. The tightness in my chest, the ache in my throat. I'll put a name to it. Sad, angry etc. And I'll wait for it to ease because the only way out is through.

Next I'll let myself think about why I'm feeling that way. Has something brought up old emotions, has someone else done something to cause it. And I'll decide if I need support or to communicate the feeling to someone.

So I'm expresser but not necessarily to other people if that makes sense.

Express. Not always in the moment, but once I've got it straight in my head.

I'm a terrible bottler sometimes, I am that stereotypical hyper independent eldest daughter who keeps all her problems to herself so as not to be a burden. Yet everyone else comes to me with theirs.

I am trying to be better at it, but it's how my brain is wired now.

Express, sometimes people need to see your emotions and realise how their actions affect others. Also, its not healthy to suppress your emotions x

Christ, that sounds like me, now even my parents come to me rather than the other way around.

Honestly I struggle to unload onto anybody, it can be lonely at times

.

"Do you express your emotions or suppress them?"

Both. Sometimes it wouldn't be fair to express how I'm feeling in the moment because it's an instinctive response and perhaps not an accurate insight in to how I'm really feeling.

Or I don't have the headspace for conflict so rather than saying "actually, you did make me feel x, y and z bevause of this" I choose to suppress and save my peace.

Certain things I'm happy to express my emotions on.

I used express, wore my heart on my sleeve but life has turned me into a cold hearted b®tch

Nah, it depends on the situation but I do suppress them, I'd rather walk away than expose them.

Just north of Bristol

I generally express my emotions as they are usually fairly positive - I’m fairly level headed.

I do occasionally get caught off guard by emotions though. Usually I’m curious, and ask myself where did that come from, or oh that’s interesting that you had a strong reaction to that - I wonder what’s that about.

As much as I try to know myself, parts of me still remain a mystery
