Why do people put filters on pictures ?

I can underatand smilies etc cover faces or other identify features but not a filter, to me it looks fake and a big turn off.

I use filters to create colour pops... or to covr aspects of myself... still a filter just quicker then using the pen option to colour things in xx

We're not mad on filters, but in our opinion they're better than silhouette or cock pics - so everyone's opinions will differ, and so they should, each to their own. K

couple, us we him her.

Not a fan of the filters at all, especially the ones that make you look like you are almost a cartoon character.

There’s filters that change a persons looks or body and there’s filters that change a pic to enhance it.

We use filters to enhance a pic, not ourselves.

I edited my latest pictures loads. Mostly because I was trying something but also to try and make me less identifiable.

Filters have lots of purposes.

I have no filters apart from the black & white, my pictures still don’t seem to show how old & fat I am 🤷🏻‍♀️

My favourite is the dog Snapchat filter. It’s great for making people look prettier.

Colour pops and monochrome are all filters. I don’t see the issue

They are an obvious potential issue if you use them to pretty yourself up because the reality won’t match your online look.

If they are using filters that make them look totally different than they really do , that's deceitful & people will surely notice if they meet them.

I don't use filters and hate the dog ears or big glasses one.

I don't know why people use them op, maybe they hope people won't notice or care.

I can't speak for others but...

My profile, my photos, my prerogative, my necromancy.

I wouldn’t even know how to use them, i do know they can make someone look totally different as my niece looks completely different person facially and about 10 stone lighter on her face book versus real life

Is it better than no picture?

It’s their profile. They do as they wish with it 👍🏻

I started the same thread a couple of days ago.

I understand using them for disguise but why change your face if you are meeting someone it’s obvious you are lying

The West

All my photos are filtered and edited. Sometimes it's for a bit of artistic flare and sometimes I want to get the photo closer to what I saw when I see decided to capture that moment.

I’m talking about facial manipulation. There’s a woman I know who goes to the football she filters her face beyond recognition on her insta then complains she can’t keep a relationship.

In the west.

I use the adjust function from Dr G on nearly all of my photos, buildings, landscapes, people and nature. Maybe not filters as such though. It’s a good way to relax and actual look at what you have photographed.

La la land

I have a mixture on our profile. So many say they only adjust the contrast/brightness etc, but these do alter the appearance of the skin. Skin in supposed to have texture and variations in colour. Personally I prefer pictures that look real, but I get it that others prefer using filters etc.
