While I was smashing out David Watts and chopsticks on my steinway, something triggered a memory, as a kid at school fetes I can remember teams on men smashing up old pianos, they'd pay to have a go in teams. I thought I'd possibly dya dreamed but no... Tis true, piano smashing for part was a thing. Anyone else remember some bizarre things from school fetes?

I remember my mum almost lamping the bloke running the tombola when called me 'a jammy git' after I pulled out the top prize with the first dip! 😆

We were given an old piano by a couple who were emigrating when I was a kid.

The piano tuner took one look at it and declared “the only thing that’s fit for is a piano bashing contest!”
