I'm asking as there seems to be more and more drivers around that don't know when to indicate and what filtering in traffic is or worse still what a red light means.

. I don’t know about your part of London but in my part of North London and surrounding parts of North London the majority of BMW drivers don’t seem to bother indicating all.

We have both noticed that people seem to drive as a secondary activity. Their main focus is on talking to a passenger, listening to something through headphones (😱), looking at their phone etc. They simply aren't aware of their surroundings

you are lucky as in our area its almost any car especially at roundabouts - one type of car does come to the front of my mind it is the old, battered Vauxhall Meriva i think its called and the slightly bigger version

they do this as they are lazy and they slow down traffic floow and the same morons drive right up the backside of your car.

My ex father in law had a driving licence obtained in the middle east in the early 70s. He was required to go to a large stadium and demonstrate that he could start the vehicle, move it forward 100yards and backwards 100 yards before being given his licence.

Fortunately for all mankind even he realised it was disaster waiting to happen so hired a driver.

I think the problem with driving in London is the fact that if you obey the law you are the inly looser out there, and at some point you just break and become one with the arseholes lol

Mine was £7 for the licence and £13 for the test in 1984, standard charges.

In the west.

I can’t remember how much it was. I paid a bale of hay for the horse for every driving lesson though.

No clue how much I had to pay for the licence, but a lesson was £13 an hour in 1996.

Absolutely concur with the driving being a secondary action.

People just don't seem to pay attention on the roads anymore, and entitlement culture has become sadly apparent here too.

I've been saying for a long time we should be retested regularly, however I have heard it is currently almost impossible to get a test for new drivers, let alone if you had to be retested!!

25.00-30.00 for the license and to pass test another 13.00 for the lesson

My friend passed his driving test like that in India only a few years ago but didn't have to drive backwards. Four years ago my son's friend passed his test in Florida. He had to drive out of a parking lot, left, left, left round the block, back into the parking lot and he passed.

Some of the driving I've seen recently I'd be surprised if they could even pass under those conditions.

It must be quite a depressing job for the person who fits the indicators in the BMW factory, knowing that they will never get used…. 😀

Totally agree, and as a law-abiding cyclist its increasingly worrying.

Too much when I did it (£1K plus).

Nowadays it seems to be Tesla drivers & Audi drivers who struggle with the basics of driving like indicating or maintaining space.

I thought it was the law that BMW drivers didn't have to indicate, it certainly seems that way.

Judging by many peoples driving, I guess "christmas crackers" are handed out on a daily basis.

It’s not how much the licence cost or if it came in a Christmas cracker.

It’s more the fact they took driving lessons from Stevie Wonder….

The UK could have full employment, as there's so much work to do, with improving driving standards and enforcement.

It's never, ever mentioned politically that standards are so abysmal. They're on a downward trajectory, so I dread to think what it'll be like on 10 or 20 years

At the roundabout I don't trust the other drivers to indicate...

So don't beep you're horn at me I know perfectly what I'm doing I just don't trust that other drivers do.

I also hate people who stop abruptly...indicate ..then turn...

They are legally allowed to do that but they just show they are over age 60 and dangerous

"Undertaking on motorways and even dual carriageway really gets me.

These people are just dangerous and careless drivers and will if they can run away from the accident/mayhem it they have caused.

in london, so many cars are not insured - when i worked about 12 years ago (i early retired at 50) the number of times i used to see police and dvla pull up untaxed and uninsured cars.

We've been victimes of several uninsured drivers who all hit our car and drove away the inbred .......

you can often tell when a driver is not indicating they are careless and very selfish drivers that not only slow down traffic flow but often act like the "i am a big man/woman " and have big mouth that is until they meet their match, lol and they do but they won't tell you about that
