Do you think the body you want is desirable

I was reading something that suggested that the body types we think people will find attractive tend not to be the ones they do?

So guys think abs and ripped bodies are what women want / women think men want really slim women and so on but it’s not the case as much as they expect.

Do you think that’s true for you?

Do you think that the body type you expect men/ women/ other people are attracted to is the body they usually are?

I miss my slim body I will admit it's all a bit alien, but I've probably had more attention at my current size than I did slim which surprises me.

It’s just a body, you either like it or you don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️

Same as my face, hands, arse or another body part, we've all got them and they’re all different.

I don't think about my body in terms of what others find attractive. I don't think about what body types I find attractive, either.

There's just people I find attractive and people who find me attractive. Occasionally that overlaps and there's a possibility we will fuck each other.

I also think it varies.. I love abs/ ripped bodies.. but also like dad bods. It’s all about the person behind the body.

Carlisle usually

The only time I really consider what someone else finds attractive is when I'm actively interested in pursuing something with them myself.

If someone shows a clear preference for short or slim or big titted women I do assume I'm not for them and move on rather than directly asking or trying to change myself. Because I know I don't have a particular type I lean towards the thought that most other people don't either, but some people do either outright state a preference or have a solid history of choosing a certain aesthetic 💜

I find it weird when people assume that I'm not going to fancy them based on their own assumptions or what they know of my previous history.

Physical appearance does matter to me but it's very low down on the list behind them making me laugh or good conversation or how they make me feel. Especially if how they make me feel is safe and accepted? 🤤 I want.

Well, with women, I like soft edges, voluptuous boobage and a homely look - I somewhat churlishly refer to it as 'looks like she'd bake a good pie'

With men, I like an air of physical masculinity, body hair, natural tone, a bit of facial fuzz, a bit of a podge - someone who looks like he has seen inside a gym, but would also enjoy the pies mentioned above with abandonment and gusto

I dunno if that is attractive to everyone, but it is to me

I don't expect people to have certain attractions for the most part, no. I guess if they repeatedly showed they had a type, their forum posts indicated it I might think they do. Like if someone states I don't like x, I tend to believe they don't.

Attraction for me is complicated, friendship is needed first so I tend to go with it's not so clearcut for others either. There's not a particular aesthetic I'm drawn to.

Don’t know about the body appearance but I thought me having a beard and long hairs just like viking men would be desirable but had to break it to you that the only compliments I receive is from men

I can imagine that fab is refreshing in that sense.

I definitely think people on here, for lots of reasons, are more open about what they find attractive.

The thing I have learnt on this site is that there is no right or wrong for body shape. I have stopped presuming I know what people do or don’t want - everyone has different tastes and those tastes can (and do) change over time.

I think a good point is that these things are desirable but I think demographic on this site is relevant. I think in my experience, younger people like beards more than older people. Older people definitely like a clean face.

Even though I have been attracted to a variety of body types as its always the person that attracts me first..I do always assume that I'm unlikely to be the body type the majority of men would be interested in. I always assume that given the choice men will go for the perfect size 10 without all the cellulite and wobbly bits. And I'd be guilty of checking verifications to see what type they generally go for. It would make me less likely to meet someone if I felt I was bigger than their usual type.

I'm like that too, I tend to look into verifications not sure if it's a good or bad thing at times though.

I think that is interesting. Do you not think people can have an attraction to different types of people? So the attraction can be genuine even if the verifications show one type of person

I think answered this wrong

So...

As for the body I want for myself, I'd like one that allowed me to be healthier, both mentally and physically

At the moment, that is hindered by medication which keeps me fat, but it's either that or risk my life by not taking the meds

So, in all fairness, I couldn't care less if the body I'd prefer is attractive to the majority as long as I am healthier and there are a handful of people who see the man and not the body

La la land

I think it can be easy to get sucked into what the media etc suggest is attractive. But then I know that I'm not attracted to certain celebs are thought of as attractive. So I have to remind myself that attractiveness means something different to everyone.

Attractiveness is more than looks, it's a whole package, which we sometimes forget I think .

You only have to look around at the variety of couples to realise that people like all varieties of body type.

I do genuinely believe that a high percentage of men will like a younger body rather than an older one.

Actually, and this is something I've been trying to write about recently, is that I had sex with this woman once... she had really curvy hips and a noticeable belly. Her boobs had this really sexy droop to them.

And I remember wanking over the image of her in my head for weeks, months. She was honestly so beautiful and her body was incredible. And then it occurred to me. That I hate my stomach and my hips. And yet those things on her were the things I found the sexiest about her. And it was like just that healed some of my own body hatred.

Body wise perhaps. But aren’t women supposed to be more attracted to men their own age and men more attracted to younger?

I wonder how much physical attraction has to do with that

Larger women have always been considered attractive in some places. African art features large women frequently. Ancient fertility statues or carving feature fuller figures. Personally I find the female form in all it's different shapes and sizes very sensual and pleasing on the eyes 💋

As said above I too am guilty of straight away looking through verifications to see if they had been with anyone with a similar body type to me, if there isn't I just assume they're desperate and want a quick shag. I probably kill off a few good opportunities due to my own insecurities.

I think it doesn't help I have a specific type for the women I like but with men I don't really care as long as they're funny, engaging and flirty.... I need to get out of my own head but the innate fear of rejection remains strong...

I think, the only reason I want a better body is because mine is falling apart and I've let myself go. I know I can be healthier and I'm a little better shape.

As for desiring others. If I'm being honest for women I like all different shapes and sizes it's more about the confidence and way they carry themselves. But nothing in the extremes of large or to slim.

For men I like more slender men but if they are bigger I do prefer athletic builds.

But if you're healthy then I'm happy for you. Xx I'm more attracted too people once I get to know them a bit more xx

Men are generally more attracted to the 'curvier' woman, but I don't want to get slim to attract men. I want it because I feel better that way.

If I’m being completely honest on a site like this being “gym fit” does get you attention and it has given me some opportunities to meet with people that others probably wouldn’t get. It doesn’t make me any better than anyone else for the record but it would be patronising of me to say everyone has the same chance. This is a superficial place after all.

That being said it can and is too much for some. I’ve been rejected on those grounds too (very nicely I’ll add)

I don’t have body image issues however I will concede I can be a harsh critic of myself at times. That seems to be something we can all do too often.

Yeah, I think the body I want is desirable. I've always been quite slim and I've seen threads and posts about gym fit and dad bods being people's preferences which has sort of made me want that gym fit body to get bigger and more muscular that women seem to enjoy (in addition to wanting to feel good about myself, blah blah blah), but I do think I would be less desirable if I still had my usual slim physique as ultimately, people see your body and decide on that as an initial point of attraction.

I like the body I have now as I feel more healthy and energised than when I was bigger. Some people find it attractive, some don't.
