What food do you think is okay within the “value”‘ranges and what food would you always try and get from the next range up?

I was watching something and it was talking about fruit juices and was showing that on the cartons it marks the country of origin and batch etc.

A lot of the value juices are from the same batches as the higher ranges

East Sussex

Cereals and flour aren't great from value ranges but most other stuff is.

I shop in Aldi and Lidl when possible and most of their stuff is good.

I saw something similar, it was dairy products. A cheaper cheese was the same batch code as leading brand.

I buy what I like the taste of, rather being a brand snob.

Most value food we buy is not bad, nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. Cheap baked beans seems to be people's pet hate as not as good as heinz, but we find it's nothing a squirt of value ketchup can't fix.

Yeah dairy is a con. I know someone who worked for Arla and they made the same milk for Aldi and M&S etc 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not necessarily value range, but wonky fruit and vegetables are as good as more expensive ones. And I'd much rather have supermarket own brand Special Flakes cereal than spending money on Special K. Same goes about crisps.

There are few value ranges that I absolutely wouldn't buy. I've yet to find a value mushy peas or cornflakes that have any taste to them, and value blackcurrant squash doesn't work out as good value because it's incredibly weak so you have to use loads.

On the whole I'd say the less processed a food is, the less difference there will be in a value range. There's a huge difference between a value ready meal and a shop brand ready meal, but no discernable difference between a value pack of peppers and a shop brand one.
