I genuinely don't know why they're popular beyond as a sign of wealth in times gone by.

I have sensory overload when it comes to fabrics and styles/fit of clothes. I can't abide these, I find they're not comfortable at all. They look and feel like a crumpled newspaper after a few minutes.
