There are some folks here with excellent and clear videos and photos. How do you all manage it? I mean without having someone else to do the camerawork?

Every time I try to film a partner and I in action it usually ends up as a big mess. The camera falling over is a common problem, focussing on the wrong parts another…

Tripods. Lighting. If you're using a phone and the auto settings are focusing on the wrong bit then set it up for manual on the distance you want it to focus 💜

Good light, and tripod or propped up on the chest of drawers.

If taking pictures i ues the hold out your hand 🤚🏻 option, or timer

If filming just go for it and take pictures from the film.

Thanks, it sounds like the bag of toys will need to include some kind of tripod, and maybe I can figure out a remote focussing thing.

And the lights too, though we try and get as much light in as possible anyway.

Fingers crossed and thanks both!

Professional photographer here…

The advice you’ve been given so far is spot on. If you can’t get someone to shoot for you, a tripod is essential for good quality photography and video. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, you could sellotape your phone to an upright vacuum.

And get as much light on the scene as you can. This will increase the depth of field which in simple terms is how much of the scene is in focus.

And if you are using your phone, don’t be tempted to use the camera that’s on the same side as your screen. Whilst they are a lot better than they used to be, the ones on the other side are higher quality in pretty much every phone.

Take the lens cap off. I think that’s where most of the silouhette profiles are going wrong.

Prop your phone up and get creative.

Try and use natural light. Try different angles - sometimes a different view point works better.

Crop pics to focus on your subject(s).

totally agree it's very hard to do a good video with just yourselves, I have when I've met up with couples done videos for them not Just the mechanics of sex but the facial expressions the body movements and the loving chat, done on their phone for their pleasure afterwards.

There's plenty of cheap tripods and remote set ups that are easy to use. Play around with it, change the angles, have fun with it.

Lighting can make a big difference so it's worth playing around with, shadows can be yr friend or yr enemy. Then there's hard bright light or softer diffused light, both will have completely different effects, even turning a bright light towards a wall will change the harshness of shadows and the overall effect.

If yr just using a phone, try using the live action pic setting, at least then you can go through to find the one frame that looks the best.

Have fun with it.

Watch some YouTube videos about OF creation. They give really good advise about setting up cameras / phone camera. / composition and lighting ideas from using natural light to ring lights
