"I bought (1.5 hours ago) some anti virus software that sounds like a UK motorcycle.....But I bought it from Jeff Bezos company in the UK. I was forced to subscribe for a year @£74.29 No problem...I have a cunning plan....and then it went downhill after that. 5 mins later I received notification that the software company presumably had debited my card by £74.29. I've just spent the last 1.5 hours, getting nowhere, in trying to contact either company to try and get my money back. Btw This isn't a gofundme.....yet at least ![]() Was it a dierct debit payment? I think you can cancel that through your bank, if its a card payment, yeah good luck with that you'll have to go through the company.

"Also, you do realise there is still antivirus software available for free? It just keeps getting better...scammed thrice ![]() The free versions are ok but not as good as paid for in some respects. We use a different one to yours. It covers 10 devices for three years and cost around £28 although that was on offer at a reduced priced. It's a full security suite not just anti virus.

"Have you paid twice? " Mine originally cost £12 for 5 devices from the first well known company. Got the access code. Downloaded the software....after being forced to agree to a subscription. Once I'd downloaded it I cancelled the subscription. 5 mins later my credit card said £74 had been debited.

Maybe don't sign up for the subscription next time. " I'm glad it wasn't just me thinking that? It sounds as if you got what you paid for tbh and are upset you couldn't scam them by using it for free and cancelling quickly? That said, does this service not come with a cooling off period though? Most things do as per UK consumer rights.

None giving a telephone number and all offering advice that is not specific to my needs. In terms of they've taken money when they shouldn't have done for another year at least.

Which I copied and pasted into the second companies website (It's a website that you can't download anything unless you agree to a subscription.) and it just went tits from there.

Maybe the company has just taken payment as a holding payment for a few days, then a refund, similar to what some petrol stations do.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's not something in the small print of either company that means you've agreed to pay the subs. These things are rarely made clear

If this is AI they can stick it. ![]()

"Make a claim on your credit/debit card. That's the easiest way, and it's generally an instant refund! " I think that might just be the route I have to go. Thankyou.

The bank may pay it back initially but the amount can be disputed by the merchant and depending on the scenario the bank may claw it back. I don't think something you willingly signed up for or a change of mind is covered by a chargeback.

"Ho hum.. It was my direct payment to the credit card company and nothing to do with any of the sites I almost mentioned. If I'd phoned up earlier would have saved a lot of grief. ![]() Oh! ![]()
