Very Superstitious…

Edinburgh

So my friend recently lost something important to her and I told her in my family we ask out loud 3 times to St Anthony to please bring the lost item back…it rarely fails. She thinks I’m mad, which I am 🤪

What nutty superstitions do you have?

And oh it worked 💜

I won’t walk under ladders just because a Dewalt cordless impact dropped by the shop fitter above would make quite an impression on my noggin

My Nan used to do this all the time - you have just evoked a real memory for me there ❤️

I will still salute a single magpie and avoid splitting a post. Also avoid cracks in pavement stones. 🤣🤣

My mother in law prayed to st anthony often.

Glad your friend found her item but that's no proof that st. anthony had a hand in it.

I'm not superstitious at all.

If anything has a numeric/digital display, I feel uneasy if it doesn't show an even number, so will normally increase/decrease the temperature, volume etc

If I spot a solo Magpie I always ask him how his wife is (I know, that's very presumptuous of me to assume that it's a male Magpie and that it has a spouse, let alone a wife 😂)

My dad always used to crush empty eggshells before throwing them away, so that mischievous fairies wouldn't live in them. 😄

Same! Especially volume. For me it can only be a multiple of 5 though

My Irish family do the St Anthony thing too and also chant "Jesus lost, Jesus found" when searching for something they can't find

My dad always told us that witches would use them for boats. Though I never understood why that would have been so bad!

My mam doesn't do anything superstitious as such, but when she loses something she asks my dead granny to find it for her, and worryingly within minuites she normally comes good

It could work by your subconscious bringing it to your conscious mind.

I'm not superstitious at all.

I like things that are backed up by strong evidence. I don't generally give attention to superstition that's not

There’s only one I do it’s a family superstition my grandmother used to say don’t do a wash on New Year’s Day as you’ll wash one of the family members away 🤷🏻‍♀️
