A wink breaks the ice.

Does everyone reply when someone take the time to send a message? I find it rude not to.

Winks are a useful tentative sign of interest but probably overused by single men.

Interestingly experiment would be if winks were usable by everyone EXCEPT single men

"A wink breaks the ice.

I also do, but it's easy as a single guy. Women and couples are often not able to respond to every message due to the volume some receive.

Always take no response as a no thank you.

And I am always happy for winks or messages.

Cross Hands

I usually wink if I fancy someone…

I rarely message a woman first, as I’ve learned (from hard-won experience on here) that very few of the messages I’ve sent in the past get read.

Winking is a good option for initial contact so as not to waste each others time, and if they wink or message back then it’s time to chat and see if there’s a ‘spark’ to take things further

As far as I'm concerned either is an expression of interest, and so a wink or a message will always get a prompt reply from me.

I'm in the minority it would appear, I like a wink! I will wink back if I'm interested. Hopefully receive a message after they've then read my profile...

Sort of a wink, wink, nudge, nudge type of thing

Seems most people tent to prefer messages to winks. But ladies often complain of a cluttered inbox.

I do message often, but I tend to send winks too, just a bit of a nudge kinda

This is how we like to do it as well. We get way too many messages as it is, and most of the guys don't fit with what we're looking for, so we'd rather they wink and see if we're interested and wink back then send us a long winded message - saves us all time!

I like winks, I think single women get loads and find them tedious. I appreciate them on the other hand and can see the benefit of them. I don't care what anyone says about it its a useful tool to gage interest if used properly. I sometimes shoot a wink and if I get a wink back I know they are interested so shoot off a message. If the profile says they don't bother with winks I just go straight message x I spend time writing a message and put in alot of effort into it so it can be annoying when my well thought out message doesn't get even a thanks but no thanks, hence why I like a wink x I don't get the snobbery behind not liking winks, it's not lazy it's a quick little gesture that helps to break the ice. And it takes just a few minutes to scroll through winks and look at their profile and shoot a wink back.

I would like to add that if I don't get a reply to a message I take that as a no thanks. I'm a big girl and can handle the rejection so it doesn't upset me or anything but it's still a little bit irksome all the same. I am only human after all. Had to add that to prevent people commenting that I'm whiny lol

I get it really, getting 100s of messages/winks per day can be very tasking. I tend to play more in the forum now, enjoying the site for the conversation value.
