Living out in the countryside

I feel like living in the middle of nowhere makes it harder to meet new people.

And that maybe a city like Liverpool would make life a bit more lively.

Probably going to be a quite bank holiday for me, again .

What are your thoughts and experiences?

Does anyone else struggle to meet new faces and live a little?

And I don't even just mean the sex, etc.. I mean in lots of ways.

It would be nice just to even go for a nice walk with someone.

But there's more sheep than there are people!

Book yourself a hotel in a city somewhere if you think it'll improve your chances ? Good luck 🤞

I love living in the countryside. I have sheep at the bottom of my garden and only 3 neighbours.

I guess I have the best of both worlds though as I work in the city centre .

I'm not sure I'd want to meet people too close to home either. I'd rather continue to be able to walk the dog

and go to Aldi looking like shit and not caring who I might run in to!

It makes no difference in my opinion. But arranging club meets and booking a hotel in might help you.

Yeah.. me too.

I'd really be screwed without a car!

Best day of the week atm is driving to Aldi to buy a beef joint on a Sunday so I can cook a roast.

I like the countryside, but not sure I could live outside a city. Horses for courses.

I can see what you're saying - there will invariably be more "to do" in a city, but not sure it's necessarily easier to meet people. Still need to do the same things and get yourself out there; all the same advice would apply.

If you like walking and want to meet people, I bet there's a walking group you could join!

I used to travel to Liverpool 3 days a week years ago when I still had a friend who lived there.

I met a lovely woman there too, and would often drive up to see her.

I'd probably feel a bit silly going out there now by myself.

Everyone I know now has other commitments or just isn't in to going out anymore like they used to.

Unlike me, they just seem to have no energy anymore.

In the west.

Public transport isn’t always the best in rural areas. If I go out with friends is a pain in the arse as the buses stop quite early and don’t always tie in with the trains. It’s either a long wait or a taxi, which is expensive for the distance I go, £30ish for 6 miles.

Quite the opposite for me: living in London has fewer opportunities for me to meet people for whatever reason.

Most of the people I engage with or meet are often found hundreds of miles away in rural areas or obscure parts of this fair Isle. It's not ideal; quite frustrating in fact.

I get your point. But actually, living in the middle of nowhere is my dream 😅 with the odd trip into a city/town, then realise crowd mentality makes the majority of peeps assholes, and slink back to my remote cabin for the joy of ignorant bliss 👌🏻

I live in a country village and it's lovely. I'm cross that they're putting in a big housing development - too many people and it's messed up my dog walking route. Two cities within half an hour's drive if I really need to go to one.

I’m very much the same, although, like the OP; I have a solo male profile in Fab. If we lived somewhere like Manchester, there’d be less green around us, but more women (and certainly more women than in Fab), so you have to evaluate your life choices……

I agree with this. I have far more meets from rural life than I do from city/town life.

I live in a strange place. I'm only a mile and half from Reading but it's like living in the country. I live on a converted farm with a river running through it and a floodplain with cows on it. So it's like living in the countryside but with all the amenities of a large town very close by.

I moved farther away from the city centre about 6 years ago

The number of locals that match is minimal

Choice is certainly more limited

Travel to a meet is a necessity

Even though Manchester is my nearest city, I am nearer to West Yorkshire than I am to the city centre

I do agree. It’s rural and quiet here and the population lower, so hardly anyone that piques my interest is local, I have to be prepared to travel.

I miss living in the “middle of nowhere”, have struggled trying to adapt to living in a town and am far more likely to hide myself away now than I ever was

Up on them there hills

Adore living in the countryside , towns I suspect reflect the people who live in them, fast and impatient. The countryside’s more relaxed and people take there time: in oh so many ways.

There's 2 within around 25 mins driving , were i live , alot of commuters live , as you got two m1 junctions within 3 mile different ways and a38 with same , but you need to drive as bus service is every hour just to 2 places and stops after 6pm haha no train station either lol

Ok so you have two less than half an hour away. Where I am it's a good 2 hours to the closest one and at least two and a half to the next one closes one.

Also I don't drive so to get to the nearest club would take me 6 hours on buses and trains and it I was coming back on Sunday it could be 8 hours.

I live in the middle of nowhere. Have for the last 15 years. It's never hampered my Fab experience because I don't restrict myself to staying local.

I've been a member at a club in Birmingham (a four hour round trip) since 2012 and have visited plenty of other clubs just as far away (and further) over the years, as well as organised socials and other events.

Flexibility is key. Yes in cities it may be the case, or at least appear to be, that there's more 'choice' and options, but as long as you're mobile and not restricted to public transport then the world is your oyster. 🤷‍♂️

I live in a village and spend most of my life in the countryside. Give me the countryside 100% of the time,I very rarely go to towns. Wooded areas, fields, nice quiet places out the way where all sorts of fun can be had... not sure that's the same in a town or a city?

Op, I know how you feel. Although I'm 20 mins from two major cities, I still live in bum fuck nowhere and 5 mins from countryside, I have lots of fabbers approximately 15-20 miles away but weirdly the common response even from the locals is "too far away" ... I dont question it I'm just assuming they are being polite instead of saying "fuck off ugly"

I've also thought the same thing OP, but I couldn't live in the city, I like the tranquility of living on the country.

I'm happy to travel if I'm too far out for someone if they were looking for a meet.

I'm not sure any sane woman would want to plan to spend the night at a strangers house anyway, so socials/ hotel meets might be preferred if we're planning a meet

Op can't be too far away from some sort of local community if he is in the Uk, and most communities in the countryside have been taken over by city incomers with loads of dosh, these types are great for organizing all sorts of social events, you need to seek them out.
