The whole idea is bonkers as if people are going to conform - an idea would be for an independent verification company to verify you with and then they confirm to the porn sites you are genuine

Is anybody able to describe exactly what rule is coming in? From reading the thread, my guess is that any site that publishes stuff that is classified as pornography must check the identity of its users first. Is that the case? What about tasteful fully or partially nude? Is that ok?

Just read a report on the net about it. It looks like a facial, age estimate is also acceptable. For this site, all they need to do (surely) is blur everything until you have submitted a verification picture. Many people already do that? For example, we submitted a fully nude shot of the two of us with our profile name. It just needs to be changed to show our faces instead.

Not sure it's worth panicking over.

I had to provide age verification when I bought some vape coils online.

And I've given ID to many a swingers club over the years.

And I've paid for site support via card and PayPal before, both of whom hold my age details.

There's many a way to skin a cat. I can't see it being a complex process myself if anything is required. 🤷‍♂️

I would imagine most sites would eventually support some sort of zero-knowledge proof. These are essentially a trusted 3rd party being privy to your credentials, passport etc. then verifying you in places you don't want your full details known.

Google seem to have something coming, but I'm not so sure about letting them do it. They have enough info on me already.

Looks like it's a picture id or a credit/debit card check.

There are existing independent sites/companies that run this sort of check already.

It's not that uncommon to find ID checks on sites and apps that handle personal data.

Of course if places don't want one all new tech the short cuts version is a drop off in sites offering free content and going subscription only.
