Do you do this a lot?..

I must waste an hour a week trying to find mine.

I ring it from the land line (which I still have.)

If it's turned off though, you're screwed.

It's not something I do often, but when I do I really go for it.

Yesterday I found my works mobile in the fridge after a very long time of looking round the flat.

Couldn't even phone it - it was on mute.

I'd entirely given up looking for it and had a cup of tea instead. When I opened the fridge for milk, there it was.

I put a hanging hook up.. and try to always go and hang my keys on it when I get in. Seemed to have mostly solve that, though I've not done it on occasions & lost my keys for days 🫣

I forgot about bank cards...I've cancelled loads & asked for replacements...then I'll find them a week later stuck in between a tiny gap in the side of a car seat or something 🫣

I must do this at least 5 times a day. It's always on silent, but I do have vibrate on. 🤦‍♀️

Sometimes past me likes to leave future me a challenge, and I leave it somewhere totally out of the ordinary. If Mr or our teens aren't home, I'm screwed, because I have no one to ring it for me.

I've had to do this for my keys too. I've lost my bank card many times. Then usually find it after ordering a new one. I've done this recently, actually. Still not found it though...

Embarrassed to admit I've had to call a locksmith out in the middle of the night, pay hundreds and then found the old keys a few days later.

Also I've parked in huge places, forgotten the exact location...and walked around for an hour or more, convinced the car's been st"len..then eventually found it.

I had a black case for mine and in a huge black handbag it was invisible. Spend hours looking through the car and house when it was in the bag...

Now red cover and less if an issue

I have a Tile on my keys. which means I can find my keys from my phone, and my phone from my keys - my phone still makes noise when I search it from my Tile, even though my phone is permanently on silent.

I also have one hidden in my suitcase when I travel. If my luggage goes missing I can check the Tile app and find out where my case is!

I use the phone finder thing once a fortnight. That's pretty good, I used to be a lot worse.

Hyperfocus takes over and everything else gets lost in it's wake. Has it's pros and cons.

I keep my phone in a certain pocket. Sometimes, if my hands are full or something, I slip it into a different one. Later on, I will realise that it isn't in my favourite pocket and panic until I realise!

I also have a habit of leaving my car keys in the ignition. I'm talking all day at work, parked in a shopping mall car park and even overnight on a couple of occasions.

Cardboard. Try to make sure I get all of it out of the house and into recycling sack in the garage. Only to come back in and find something I missed or someone has opened food cartons packaged in extra cardboard.

Round the Bend

Once when using a cash point I heard a phone ring near me, nobody was even close to me but it rang several times more. I tracked it down to being in a litter bin, fished it out and answered it. A grumpy person answered and asked why I answered his phone. Long story short, with long explanation where I had found his phone he said wait there I will drive over and pick it up. Turns out he was three miles away, had dropped his phone in litter bin with rubbish earlier. Miserable man never even said thank you.

Or on silent....

This happens quite a bit. It's worst when another person isn't with me as when I ring it and it is by some miracle switched on loud, I never know where the sound is coming from as I'm totally stone deaf on one side. So on my own, I'm screwed, if it's on silent screwed.

Mobile, purse or keys, I'm always losing.

I diligently keep phone and keys in set places else it would be a huge issue. I know this as my issue on this theme is I can never remember if I’ve locked the car or not if I’m not concentrating and so have to go back and check. This does happen frequently but I’m working on it 😬
