"Are you most likely to hear rats, mice or voles squeaking? I was outside and heard them a couple of times, and hour or so ago, We have some building work in a nearby field, which might have displaced them. A neighbour's cat often catches voles" It's probably bats, they squeak so there sonar picks up resonating from objects they could potentially fly into

"Fuck that for the game of soldiers I read the tribology of the rats that was bad enough sophie" I've got read that. I don't need to be in the garden at midnight and I think it was probably only done because I'd disturbed them. Only lasted a second or so not nonstop. The neighbours cat will be around tomorrow ![]()

"the only time you hear mice or rats squeak is when the cats got them. we have field mice and there a night creature heard them often in night in loft area. seen them around during the evening as thats the time they come out most often. they is times when you will see them earlier when they need food. we got rid of ours but its taken a bit to get them those field mice are not like normal mice." Interesting. I don't think there was a cat and each time, it was preceded by me making some noise and hearing some scurrying. I'm unsure if they've got into a huge plant tub

A neighbour's cat often catches voles We have rats and mice the mice make a lot more noise than the rats tbh it’s actually the baby mice that make the most noise " I think these were babies, making distress squeaks. I've had a little potter in the daylight and no signs. Next door s cat is reluctant to come in as he's enjoying lying in the sun, at the front, too much.

"Shrews are fairly vocal as are voles during mating and territory fights. Most of the time mice and rats will be utterly silent. Another option, any squirrels in your area? They can make a hell of a racket calling for a mate or babies scrapping in the nest " There are some squirrels, 4 or 5 minutes walk away.
