Sorry this is boring I know, however I have suffered from this for years, but has got a lot worse in the last 8 months or so! I do currently use eye drops/ointments but I haven't really see any improvement, and as I love my make up, this is causing me so many problems and at times is so not a good look.

Does anyone have any tips or preferred treatments that have shown to have the desired effect?

This is really getting me down, to the point of not really wanting to be outside for any great deal amount of time

I went to see the optician back in October and they recommended eye drops, but I'm not seeing any improvement, if anything it seems to be getting worse.

Well I know there isn't a cure, and having had laser eye surgery can make the condition worse as well as working in an air conditioned environment, but it really is making life unbearable as, as soon as I set foot outside, my eyes are streaming!

If its been ongoing for so long you should see your GP as there may be an underlying cause for which an ophthalmolgy referral is required.

Do you use drops at night as well as during the day, Celluvisc are more oily than daytime drops so keep the eyes moist throughout the night which might help.

Also do you use drops in a bottle or individual one use throw away vials? The bottles contain preservatives which dont suit all eyes whereas the vials dont but Im not sure whether they are available over the counter - Blink do the vials so might be worth a try even if you have to get them on prescription.

I have the same problems as you but have found the one use vials help as do wrap around sun glasses albeit they are not the most attractive!!!!

Harsh Miss tress!!

It is a common condition and I was just asking if people could recommend eye drops that were better than the one's I am currently using! I'm not totally thick to ask for serious medical advise from complete strangers, so please give me some credit!

I use eye ointment during the day, but maybe I'm not applying it often enough and a much thicker one at night which should keep the eyes hydrated for longer, the only problem with the night one is you can't see for at least 30 minutes after applying it!

So, yes I think there are some people on here who might be able to help

This particular horny stranger has had similar experiences and did in fact recommend that she seek profession advice.

She was asking for advice only not a diagnosis - her right, as it is for everyone, to use the forum in a way that suits them??!!

Best thing to do is go back to your optometrist. The optom's where I work see this all the time and most commonly recommend viscotears. If this is what you're using and it's not working then go back

I will, as you know the wind is the main factor up here, so having a barrier against it, might just help slightly

Im not a huge fan of taking medications but I also found that taking antihistamine help with the streaming eyes but you need to take them at least an hour before leaving the house.

If you've had laser eye surgery you should be wearing sunglasses whenever you go out, your eyes are more susceptible to damage post surgery and the darker the better. Wide sides just offer more protection from irritants and the sun. xx

I was just about to say try antihistamine what you think might be dry eye could be a very mild reaction to some thing just get some over the counter ones and see if it helps

I use a spray. You close your eyes and spray it on the lids. It's meant to restore the tear film on your eyes.

Oh and I forgot to mention I had my eye surgery over 10 years ago, so that is the reason why I am now experiencing such major problems now (this is from obtaining medical advise before posting here), it's not about not being able to suss out my own medical problems and seeking advise from strangers, so for all keyboard warriors, who presume we are thick, please stop assuming things before obtaining the facts, as the saying goes....

Never let anyone other than a eye hospital near your eyes.

I use refresh single use in day

Cellulosic 0.5% at night

Sodium cromoglicate in four times a day

Hope it gets better soon

I've had problems with my eyes and had corneal ulcers and I also have dry eyes. I do have drops to use every day and I also have eyelid wipes. A lot of people have dry eyelids and dandruff in their eyelashes, wearing fake lashes makes this worse (something I admit I still do), but the eyelid wipes are really good.

I have had hospital treatment so I get my drops and the eyelid wipes from the ophthalmologist. Maybe ask at the chemist tho to see if you can buy these wipes, it's important to keep tour brows and lashes really clean, and it's difficult to get mascara and eyeliner off at times, and the glue if you wear fake lashes

It may be a symptom of another problem,like under active thyroid gland,go see your doctor.Make an appointment now,you may get seen by Christmas if your doctors are like the ones round here!

Forgot to say check contents of drops some have caffeine in them that dry's out eyes, go figure that

With regards to make up if you don't already use it try Estée Lauders double wear I've just started using it and it stays on longer than any other I've tried. I also tested their waterproof mascara and for the first time ever didn't have panda eyes at the end of the day. Good luck

All of my ointments have been either prescribed or recommended by pharmacists or optometrists , so again keyboard warriors check the fact before posting!

Yes try out a few things, see if anything new makes a difference. All of us respond to medications differently so it's a case of trying and hopefully you'll find something that works for you. Good luck x
