Bit of a random thought after a recent event…

When you’re at a club night or social — what’s the one thing you wish more people would do?

(Not talking about full-on play — I mean those little things that make the atmosphere better.)

Is it being more open to conversations? More flirting? Dressing up more? Being a bit less cliquey?

Curious to hear what people think… might give a few people some ideas for making nights even better too.

Carlisle usually

Dance. Demonstrate joy. Break out of their small groups to talk to the people who are short of company or just new people in general 💜

Central

Become inclusive of those who are excluded. And intervene, when hordes of men are overwhelming and not conducive to healthy respect

More mingling/working the room and not sitting in little friendship groups.

It's not easy opening up if one is coy and reserved, or perhaps nervous, but I would like to see people mingle a little more, circulate and work the room, avoid perching yourselves upon a table for the entire evening because I interpret that as a 'wall' or a bubble that's difficult to penetrate. However, on the flip side lots of people are 'first timers' and the lowering of inhibitions isn't an easy task, understandably.

I don't think I've been to a social where flirting was going to be my opening gambit, nor do I expect it.

I'm probably in the minority that in all my years attending socials I've always left at the end of the evening alone. Getting lucky was never my game plan.

Or perhaps I never got lucky...
