What's your network situation? With a provider or out of contract?

Service providers normally do it for around £20, still a ridiculous amount but it is better than £45...

I jaibroke my iphone 4 and unlocked it that way for free. Doesn't work on every phone though!

Jailbreak..... you can google how to do it and get the software pretty easily..

I took my niece's iPhone 4 into carphone warehouse today and they only charged £15!
