Songs we all know but were surprised to find out who originally recorded them

I only discovered this week that ‘dare me’ was first recorded by the pointer sisters back in the 80s.

I only know the more jazzed up dance version and was genuinely surprised. I listened to the original and it’s pretty damn good.

Any such musical surprises for you lot ?

"Manic Monday - Prince"

Not sure Prince ever recorded that ?

He did record Nothing Compares 2 U and I Feel For You first, which were then big hits for Sinead O'connor and Chaka Khan.

At least three songs synonymous with Blondie were actually covers, The Tide Is High, Denis and Hanging On The Telephone.

He recorded it to be a duet with another band and then decided against it
