A question about wine

Last night I bought a bottle of wine and put it in the freezer to cool. I didn't feel like a glass of wine last night and forgot all about. Just discovered the wine in freezer and obviously frozen solid. Will it be OK to drink once it is defrosted or will I be better tipping it down the sink?.

I'd let it thaw before pouring it down the sink.

Paradise, Herts

Be fine if it’s only been in for a little while. May taste slightly different but not harmful x

Let it thaw and drink it. If you think it’s fine, then it’s fine. 😘

At least the bottle didn't explode like it did with the prosecco my friend and I put in the freezer whilst staying in an Airbnb. What a mess that was as all the glass froze into the ice.

Smash the bottle and you’ve the best ice lolly.

It will only be ok to cook with. We often freeze the leftovers of wine both white and red and then use it when cooking rather than using fresh wine

If it tastes ok, drink it, if not, use it for cooking...

Exactly this. There's only one person's opinion on the taste that counts and that's yours.

Alternatively, since it's the weekend open another one. Then have the defrosted one afterwards

I may have killed the alcohol in it.

Defrost the wine and, assuming it's a dry white, use a full glass as your first ladle of 'stock' in your pan of Risotto.

Yes I will be drinking it later. According to Google it is safe to drink but may not taste as good. As it's a bottle from M&S that I have never had before I will be none the wiser.

Freezing wine doesn't necessarily make it undrinkable.

We’ve made white wine slushes in the summer loads of times if you make it your second bottle of the night you won’t even notice 🤪😂

It will have changed it... Whether it's still enjoyable or not only you can tell. Suck it and see. Tbh sticking it in a freezer isn't great for wine even if it doesn't freeze. But personal taste and all that.

In the west.

You could let it defrost and use it for cooking if you’re not too sure about it. 🍷
