Don’t over think it and remember it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t go the way you want it too 💪

I've never had one . All mine have been via Skype or really casual in-the-pub type chats - for teaching.

Now I've been in my current role so long I feel like I can never leave bc I'll come across as really inexperienced in interviews for someone with 18 years or so experience 🤦‍♀️

So I feel your pain...(no advice sorry). Hopefully lots on here though. Good luck!!

Fake it til you make it!

Be prepared, if you feel yourself get flustered take a moment to breathe and then start again and if it is a remote interview have your dog gatecrash … it’s what got me my current job.

Good luck OP 🍭

Prepare!

Think about the kind of questions they will ask you and have a broad sense of your answers (not over rehearsed, but know how you describe your key skills etc).

Good luck!

Firstly OP, well done. You're a good fit for the job "on paper", interview is generally to see if you're a good fit for the employer/team/organisation and equally if they are the right fit for you-it's a 2 way street. My main advice is to thoroughly research them (website, social media etc), anticipate and prepare for questions they will ask (based on the job & person spec) and very importantly EVIDENCE your skills with examples from previous experience. This doesn't always have to be from work experience, it can be from volunteering as well for example. Do an online search for the STAR technique to frame your answers. Prepare questions to ask them when invited-shows your level of interest in them and the job. Smile, be yourself and remember it's a chance to apply and improve your interview technique. Good luck!

Remember you are interviewing them just as much as they’re interviewing you.

Psychologically, I find this helps the nerves on the day.

Do you know if it's a Competency Based interview?

Prepare as best you can. Research the company and the department or anything at all. It helps you to tailor your answers in the heat of it all.

It's kind of expected that interviewees will be a little nervous. You can relax and let them do their thing. If they are good at their job they'll be trying to put you at ease because they'll want to see the best version of you as much as you want to show them.

Good interviewers will help you, not shoot you in the foot, so pay attention if they ask follow-up questions. They're possibly trying to guide you towards an area they want to assess you in.

You can ask them to repeat the question at any time.

You should take a beat to consider your answer. Not an age just enough to show you're thinking and it's good to gather your train of thought.

Breathe, even and naturally

It helps slow your thoughts and your speach.

You can jot down little notes as they ask questions to be sure you don't miss anything important that you need or want to say.

It's easy to drift off topic so just be comfortable taking a second in a natural way to consider your next words.

The key is keeping it natural and personable. Not cocky. Not dithery. They have to believe you're competent and that you'll fit in well.

2 tips:

1. You’re not there because you want the job. You’re there to find out IF you want the job. It’s a small mind shift with a huge impact.

2. The interview isn’t actually about YOU. It’s about a problem or scarcity they have. Ask questions early to understand what this is, and you can talk to them about how you can solve it.

"Hello,

The more you research and prepare the better. Unless you believe you are the best person for the job and it’s unlikely they will just be able to answer all their questions and tell them how you will solve the problems and overcome the challenges.

Nobody likes the over relaxed couldn’t care less candidate we wanna see people with enthusiasm, energy and passion , and smart enough to pre-empted some difficult questions, show them your technical and interpersonal expertise

I don’t necessarily agree with this, although I get what you’re saying.

Interviews are not something you wanna be doing to speculatively you can do a lot of research before the interview on the company their values what they do and even the role and you can pretty much know whether it’s something you want to be doing. you don’t need an interview necessarily to decide whether you want the job anymore.

Generally, if you get the interview stage you have already passed quite a few tests and are typically one of a very small number of candidates and the interviewer is very serious about you so you should give the same respect back

I’m not saying take a speculative approach, I’m saying take an inquisitive approach. Interviewees often fall down when they’re just respond to questions rather than engaging in a the discussion to establish if it’s the right role and the right company. Take of the pressure off allows a genuine discussion to flourish.

Take notes with you - MOST people don’t mind. If in doubt - ask if you can first.

Water. Accept the offer of water. My mind goes blank during interviews and taking a sip before answering a question gives me those extra seconds to think!

"Hello,

Project yourself in your mind to you shaking hands as they give you the job. Prepare some points as to why your the one. Look at the person specification as well as the skills.

Look at similar jobs and the sort of people who do them. Hope you get it.

Find a piece of music that fires you up and listen to it before you go in.

Make sure your bladder is empty.

Before you enter the building, do something that makes you feel self conscious. Like yelling the word "ANUS!" at the top of you voice.

Find out a few facts and info about the company you are having the interview with and drop it in at some point during the interview...it's sure to impress the interviewer

Invest some time analysing why you found it brutal rather than what you think went wrong. This will then set your first round performance at third round level and you’ll smash the next one.

Prepare. Do some company research incase they ask you questions on them. If you dont know the answer refer it to something that you know about them so they know you have looked into them. Dont stress too much. Ask them questions when they ask if you have any. Shows interest. Dress accordingly and most importantly just smile be friendly shake hands and manners. Good luck

Hey, 3rd round is a huge achievement in itself so well done beating rounds 1 and 2 😎

It's tough putting yourself out there and a battle to stay motivated.

You can ask for feedback to take forward to the next one.

Keep plugging away 💪
