"I think we truly experience time as we see babies become adults and middle aged people become old. " Good point, but do we really see people age, or is it just our minds re-editing the highlight reel of their youth?

"Heidegger said we are being towards death. He wasn’t being morbid, but pointing out that temporality is the thing which gives our existence meaning. So we do not observe or experience time, we ARE time. " My worst nightmare would be being immortal.

"Do we all experience time differently from one another? And does time speed up and slow down depending on our mood, activities and experiences?" Indeed. The passing of time is how we perceive it. Humans typically perceive about 60 frames per second, while many birds can process upwards of 120 fps or more. In their experience, events appear to unfold more slowly, because they're processing more “snapshots” in the same time window. Me, in a highly stressed social interaction, can probably process about 10 fps, which is why I come away from the experience thinking it was all a blur

"Do we perceive time in the same way as a fly, how can a fly can so easily evade a swatting newspaper. It may be that a fly can distinguish more movement in less time than a human, and that it senses the newspaper coming towards it relatively slowly." A fly has an fps of 250-300. So if it sat down and watched a movie with us, to them it would be a really slow slideshow of images.

"Why does time seem to fly by much quicker the older you get? As a kid it used to seem ages til the summer holidays would arrive. Now? We're almost in May. Where the fuck has 2025 gone? 🤔😮😮" ⛷️🤦
