am I the only man who couldn't give a rat's ass about football?

Football bores me... I don't mind playing it but I get absolutely nothing out of watching it.... I've never been much of a spectator or a follower.

My mates rib me and call me 'gay' because I'm not a fan. Hmmm ok so I'm a 'gay' because I don't have an obsession with a group of guys in shorts and on a weekend I don't like to join other men in standing together to watch said men in shorts and singing in harmony about how much we love these men, and when their boys lose they go home sulk and deny their wives sex..... yes sure I'm the gay.

Oh and as for Fergie..... Fergie can fuck off.

Disclaimer: nothing wrong with being a gay, my mates are fuckwits.

No Mr B has no interest in watching football or most sports.

The only thing he is an avid follower of is F1.

This doesn't surprise me really, there isn't any decent football in Sheffield to watch anyway. They have two clubs who have massively underachieved in recent years.

Nowt wrong with not being interested in football, mind you if OP is interested in netball I'd be worried!! lol

"Do you like any sports?"
yes I love sports. I used to play ice hockey at a pretty decent level and I did mma until I got smashed up. Still do boxing but don't compete anymore due to getting smashed up doing mma haha.

I even used to play football and cricket.

....I just don't see what the fuss is about watching someone else do something and getting so worked up about it. I've seen grown men cry over it.

I agree with the part about fergie, I hate the fact we're going to have to endure the same thing again when he dies!

I've always been a football fan but I would go as far as saying 98% of football played at all levels is horribly boring.

My enthusiasm has definitely faded recently. I used to be a season ticket holder but now I don't attend many matches and I don't miss it.

Massively expensive for mediocre entertainment.

Liar!

I'm a massive football fan. Love watching, talking and most of all playing the beautiful game. I play for an amateur side and have sometimes missed key games for a kick-off of my own.

Most of the time, people don't get it so they don't like it but I think it's the same with most sports. I find golf dull but would love to have a go!

I also have found that some people who are not keen on sports usually don't play any sports which doesn't help.

My mum and dad are both disinterested in any sport and neither myself or my sister were encouraged to take part t school.

As for watching, as soon as anything vaguely sporting came on the TV, over it went to another channel.

It's a matter of choice.....I would hazard a guess that there is probably an equal split between people interested and not interested in football threads. Some of them interest me and some don't.

I get more bored of the regular ones that come around and especially posters that use the word 'discuss' at the end of their post. I thought that was the idea of posting a thread without stating the 'bleedin' obvious'.

See I am the opposite, I grew up in sporting household where one sport or another was constantly on the tv.

If it wasn't on the tv then I was dragged around to either watch my brother play various sports or other family members.

Bored me silly and I couldn't wait to get a place of my own so I could ban it.

God job Mr B doesn't like watching sport or I would have traded him in by now.

But there is a "fuss."

You said you played ice hockey at a decent level so fans come to games. Would I be classed as a moron simply because I didn't see what all the fuss was about? Especially as the majority of team sports are based on around the same overriding principle: Get the ball in the goal. Whether it's a hoop, net or massive space on the floor.

I think people get annoyed because it has such a dominant presence in the UK that it's hard to avoid.

It's pretty easy to avoid Ice Hockey.

football is a disgraceful sport. I have sons who are all sporty and I am a coach of mini rugby. rugby teaches the boys discipline, sportsmanship and importantly respect for the referee. my sons also play soccer and I have watched coaches coaching the boys how best to yap at the ref, when to fall down and claim a foul, to run up to the ref, to claim for every throw in etc etc etc.

to every child this is now second nature as they watch the antics of spoiled over paid primadonnas prancing about on sky tv. I used to follow Liverpool until I watched suarez. the pool used to be what is good about football and Englishmen - fairness, hardness, professional and sporting.

suarez and Liverpool, despite his undoubted skill is a disgrace and an embarrassment to any 'sports' fan

Now I'm not a massive football fan if it finished tomorrow I wouldn't bat an eye about it, but I can appreciate the skill involved in the sport as I can in most sports, yes there over paid but there doing something 95 percent of us can't do, this is where match of the day as its place it cuts out the 88 minutes of sheer boredom and just shows the little decent bits of skill

Football: 22 blokes with dodgy haircuts, chasing a bag of wind up and down a piece of grass.

So, yes, I think you can say with some degree of certainty that I do not like football.

Think I may re-post this in another thread...

"football is a disgraceful sport.

0.02 $ worth"

I always laugh when people put rugby up as some sort of game of gentlemen. There has been far worse and nasty gamesmanship in rugby than in football. Eye gouging - not much sportmanship going on there is it?. Faking blood injuries?.

Don't mind it, but puzzled as to why people can get so fanatical and excited about it, especially when they quite often have no real connection to a team. Each to their own, but crying and wailing about , over paid pre-maddonas ? come on its just a game !

Can't stand football, and can't stand football supporters either!

No other sport do the losing sides fans attack the winners.

And the thing that really winds me up is the "we played well" bit, We??? No it's They, not We, you just watched on the TV!

The game itself bores me so no, i have zero interest in it.

Some 'fans' are simply filth though. I support Sale Sharks Rugby Union club and in the past have been threatened and spat at by Stockport County fans on the way to the ground.

At least at a Rugby game we are allowed to drink and mix with the opposing fans rather than penned in and treated like dogs.

I used to have a job that took me round lots of factories. I've lost count of the number of times the production line blokes started chatting as I worked and it was pretty much always "so what team do you follow?" or "did you catch the Villa game?". As soon as I said I don't do football at all they got this confused look on their face and were stuck for anything else to talk about.

Yeah, but you are talking about Hull!"

But your still talking bollocks!. Did you ever see the hillsborough tragedy?where fellow liverpool fans used advertising boards as makeshift stretchers to help ferry the injured, while the police were like rabbits in the headlights.

Football's an easy target to slag off, but the people who slag it off don't know about some of the excellent community work clubs do like Millwall and Charlton or the charity work they do.

It really is boring to watch. I have 3 brothers and none of us watch or play it. I think it stems from it being expected that we would like it and being forced to play it (and being shit at it). PE teachers had a lot to answer for. But because they were PE teachers...they didn't know the answers.

I'd be a hypocrit* if i said i hated it all, luv the big events, cup finals, world cups.

But i soon get very political about it all as a money generating thing, in this current climate, people being paid thousands of pounds per week to justify their so called brilliance?

While the, just started work at McDonalds gets paid minimum wage but if she sticks in,her hourly rate will go up by 20p???

People who reach the top of their professions will always be top earners...if the girl working at McDonalds reached the top of her profession she too would be earning thousands a week.

I do so enjoy the awkward silences between these lines of dialogue when you meet the average "bloke".

"see the game last night"?

"No".

"who do you support then"?

Nobody"

Oh your into rugby/cricket then"?

No.

"oh....are you gay then"?

No....I was shagging your wife whilst you were at the match".
