when do you normally get yours?

in previous jobs had them a few days before wages are due to go in but with the current job its not until the day we are paid.

Think I got mine a week before which confuses me as where I used to work we got them on the day we were paid.

In my last job I got them 7 days before I got paid so if there was any discrepancies they could be sorted out before we got paid. In this job I don't see my payslip till 4 days after I get paid!!!!

i just like to accurately budget etc.. the first 3 months the company have ballsed up my wages.

also they have taken away our time sheets so its difficult to know if they are paying us for the right amount of hours.

I'm lucky in the respect that I get a weekly wage slip and then a final salary one for my 4 weekly pay so I can budget properly

I write my hours down in a small diary that way you can check them against your hours on your wage slip.

im passed caring about pay slips once ive been paid as the cash is in my bank so to speak lol.

yeah i keep tabs in a diary russ as my hours are all over the place and vary week to week. doesnt stop payroll messing up just because i know what ive worked.

Day before we get paid, unless its the holidays, we usually get it before we break up or it's posted to us.

Not sure this will help, I'm a bookkeeper and one of the things I do is run payroll if required. If you get your payslips on the day you get paid or maybe the day before, it is probably because the company you work for has someone internally running the payroll. If your getting your payslips a few days after it is probably because an external company is running the payroll. Because they run that many payrolls they might take a day or two to get the payslips printed as they making sure they get all the payrolls run in the first place! Also now because of the new real time legislation with hmrc, anyones pay that is messed up, won't be able to be amended until the following month as payroll has to be submitted to hmrc at the time it is run and once submitted can't be re submitted.

I cant remember when i last got a wage slip and im even struggling to get a p60 from my boss right now

I always feel he is fiddling as I have no proof of anything as he pays me cash in hand

This will probably be a bad thing in the future as i have no idea how to find out if national insurance or taxes are being paid

Does anyone know if this can be checked without him knowing

Dont know how you would check this on the quiet... But... It maybe that he is not paying your tax and NI....

If this is the case, you could get caught with a

tax bill and you could be losing pension rights...

You could do with sorting this out with him, before much longer...

You need to phone hmrc and tell them this. It sounds really dodgy to me. Im an accountant and you should always receive a pay slip and definitely a p60. As for when you get pay slips depends on when the wages are processed

Always keep a record of your hours.

Re payslips I would make sure they are handed out on actual payday.

Check with your local tax office, they will want your NI number. P60's should be issued by the 31st of may each year. However I would like to point out even if you are getting regular payslips there is no guarantee that uour employer is paying the PAYE and NI. I worked for someone once doing their books and they hadn't paid PAYE or NI for a year!!!

I get a p60 every year but just takes me ages to get one out of him but its never correct

Never adds up to what ive earnt through the year for some reason

Never mentioned it cos im on a decent wage and dont want to ruin this

Some companies do it internal, others external and depends on their accounting periods.

My employer has month end the week before actual, payslips outsourced so at same time as pay. Previous employer had last day of month as month end,so payslip came later, before that last Thursday of the month so payslip all over the place ...

The challenge has always been to line the direct debits up when there is something in the account !!

you won't until you earn the threshold to start to pay tax...usually when you have not worked for a period of time.

No you have to earn a certain amount before you start to pay tax...

You won't start paying tax until you have reached your threshold, and your tax code shouldn't keep changing!

we no longer fill in time sheets and get our breaks deducted wether we take them or not.

im in the building for 36hrs pw but only get paid for 33hours.

ive done a lot of training this month and just wondering if they will pay accuratley. hard to tell whats been paid

I presume you don't get paid your lunch breaks? And as others have said keep a diary of your own hours, at least that will give you some idea, don't you have a HR dep that can explain your pay and pay slips to you? And depending on whether your salaried or not, but sometimes OT gets paid the following month

By law, everybody must take at least 30 minutes break in the day... If you work five days you will need to be in work 8 hours a day to be paid for a 37.5 hour week...

For a few years my payslips have only been available via works intranet, however my day to day work doesn't involve using a computer and on the rare occasions when i can use a work computer i find it so difficult to actually work out how to access my paylips and have only managed it once !!

We are suposed to be able to log in from home but its rare that the system works when trying that so i have given up and just check the amount in the bank !

I get paid on the last working day of the month, our payslips are all held electronically and are released for viewing on the last Tuesday before the pay day. Sounds confusing but it is easy to log on and view them, plus I have instant access to my payslips, P60 and pension statements for the last few years.

We get ours anything up to one day to two weeks after. We work 11 hours on a night but only get paid 10 because we 'can take an hours break' !!! Only we can't because there are only two staff on and one resident is 2-1 and another 1-1 and there always has to be two staff on at any one time :-/

Ours usually arrive day before payday (15th) but it doesn't matter much as I'm salaried and get the same every month - apart from this month and December when we get our bonus so it's a bit exciting next week when we see how much of the bonus the taxman has left

if the lass that does the staff payroll is off on her hols, we get that weeks + a couple of weeks in advance too to cover the holiday period

(sadly we don't get the money in advance though )

You may have serious problems if you need to sign on or when it comes to claiming your pension. Do you have a contract?

A family member had a problem when they changed jobs, they had been getting payslips etc which showed deductions for tax and NI. Unfortunately the employer had not been passing these payments on.

When they came to change jobs they were contacted about the lack of payments.

Because they had the payslips, they could prove that as far as they were concernend it had been deducted and therefore paid.

I get paid on the 7th of the month but if that falls on a weekend, pay goes into the bank on the Friday before. Payslip usually arrives day before that - as has been said here, our payroll is done internally. I am responsible for submitting the hours worked sheet on a monthly basis for the guys on my site to head office. That has to be in 6 working days before pay is sent from the company to the BACS.

Regarding the cash-in-hand and tax/n.i. question. This needs to be reported to HMRC because if it isn't, the people who being paid cash-in-hand will be well short of NI payments and income tax deductions. Obviously this will lead to serious financial difficulties later on. I spoke to a person a couple of years ago and he was in the same situation and so were some others. They wondered how the company they were working for seemed to struggle to get by when the owners had nice houses, several cars each and luxury holidays. One worker took the plunge and informed the authorities. The company owners no longer have the company and are doing time for a massive fraud. What happened about the tax & NI situation I don't know.

I am amazed at the stories on here and the advise being given. I am a payroll manager and have been for over 25 years. The wages act is clear you have to receive a payslip every month before or on payday. Luton lady on RTI you are factually incorrect you can correct payments after the payroll has run but its classified as a loan and account for in the next months payroll. P60 have to be issued by 31st May for anyone employed on 5th April that year . Happy to answer any payroll related queries PM me
