Our level crossing is at the top of the town you have to go over it to get in the centre.

Three months ago they put a camera up to see if it would stop people going through when the light was on red and the barriers start coming down.

In three months, the have procecuted 90 and still have more to deal with.

It was featured on east midlands news last night as its the highest figure in the midlands.

Is the world in so much of a rush, that they would actually put themselves and others in danger all for the sake of 5minutes?

people have been doing it for so long and getting away with, that they think it is the normal thing to do.

We had a similar on a level crossing in a town near us, a boy was photographed by a reporter running across the crossings as they were coming down.

yes!

i used to race about like a mad head until i went on a speed awareness course and now i realise nothing is worth risking yours and other peoples lives.

I know someone who lost their brother on a level crossing. i think they shouls have barriers that come up from the ground that way if they do risk jumping the light they damage their car, a lot of people risk it because the barier taks ages to lower.

Anyone who takes a risk on a level crossing, especially with a vehicle against the unstoppable speed and force of a train, is a total idiot and a selfish twat who puts the lives of possibly hundreds of innocent people at risk.

I used to live it a place called feltham in middlesex... It has a very busy rail crossing... And I've seen so many near misses..

although admit as a child if they had just started to go down you would hurry across... It was my route to school.

I have never tried to dodge it on a car... Although one in Derby can be a pain.. been stuck there for over 15mins once. So now I just turn around and take the longer way lol

I was recently told, by a police officer, of an old law regarding level crossings that was never repealed. Apparently, the speed limit for crossing one is 4mph!

Not sure if its been repealed now though...

Most of the routes out of my village require going over multi train routes, and if you go out at half past (any hour) you know the south side exits will be down.

Because of this I've seen some shocking driving and the other day it was so hot we had all the car windows open and a little Nissan 'nipped' through. They cut it so close I thought I was witnessing their deaths, The kids in the nissan were screaming and my daughter (sat up front with me) screamed too.

You would think that he would have stopped once clearing the track but no he put his foot down and carried on It's his kids I really feel sorry for. That and anyone on the train that eventually hits him

I know I will have a delay, but I'll wait thanks
