It won't be for a few seasons yet hopefully but I think the rumour was that Moyes would come in as number two and take over from there, personally I can't see it Moyes is a great manager he wouldn't want to be a number two

Chelsea fan here. I would not blame Jose at all if he did snub Chelsea for the United job.

I would love to see Moyes take the job. He is an excellent manager and Id like to see what he can achieve with a few quid to spend.

Whoever takes over will be under intense scrutiny.

Being a big ferguson fan I did realise he is from Govan mate! Was said tongue in cheek as he doesn't show any signs of retiring soon which im sure alot of fans of other inferior clubs would like! Lol...but in many ways his records and achievements will be immortal as when he finishes eventually(sometime in the year 3013!) he will be regarded as the best manager of all

There were a few rumours a while ago of Fergie training Giggs up to take over at some point whether thats still pipeline who knows ??

Fergie is a great manager and perhaps one of the best of all time, one thing he does hold is the record for the longest chew of a single piece of gum lol !!

Time will tell and i think personally the next season will be very interesting indeed with some nice twists hopefully

And a nice win for The Chelsea tonight will put a bigger smile on my face after beating Man U at the weekend he he he

I also think the choice will be between Moyes and Mourinho.

It was mentioned during last season that Moyes made no secret that he admired Fergie as a manager and would eventually think about taking over at MU.

Perhaps, even though Mourhino has said the Chelsea supporters and club love him and that he's still the 'Special One', the temptation to put two fingers up to Abramhovic and go to MU may be too strong. Whoever the replacement will be for Fergie will need to be strong to keep the squad togetherness at MU, and to be able to have the vision that Fergie has. Undoubtedly the funds will be available for the new man to strengthen the squad should he feel the need.

Who will possibly be the biggest loser when Fergie is no longer there? His chewing gum provider!!! lol

Today's football clubs are driven by money and the desire for instant success. Some may see that Manchester United seem to be dripping in money and trophies and wish their club to be the same. They hire and fire managers at will and do not stop to think about why MUFC are so successful.

It is about having a firm base of players and having the respect of the players, plus the manager having the trust of the club's owners to leave him alone to achieve as much as possible both on and off the pitch. Fergie had that trust. His success at Aberdeen stood him in good stead when he was taken on board by MU. Look what has happened at Aberdeen since he left - nothing but a gradual decline not helped by a succession of managers there.

Man Utd were a good team before Fergie took over but he installed the same ethics he had at Aberdeen and things got better from then onwards. Not overnight but a gradual build up and some shrewd transfer dealings.

I am in no way a Man U supporter and do not really like Fergie, but he is undeniably the greatest manager of all time in British football.

I hope we can get a manager of a similar ilk to take over at my hometown club - Doncaster Rovers!!

All reasonable people will recognise Ferguson as being the greatest club manager certainly of the modern game probably in history.

I just feel lucky to have lived through his tenure at United as a fan. I didn't see the Busby Babes play, but in years to come I will be able to say I was there when Fergie ran things.

Yes, it's a big deal to true football fans, especially United.

I heard an interesting thing on the radio today about people who placed bets on Man United changing thier manager this season.

A guy from Skybet stated that as Fergie will be Man U manager up to and including the last game of the season, they do not count United as changing thier manager in this current season. Therefore only people who placed a bet that United wouldn't change thier manager in season 2012/13 would win, albeit anyone who placed a bet theat david Moyes would be the next Man U manager will win assuming the appointment does actually happen.
