A mortal enemy? A person who has maybe done or said something no matter how petty and insignificant, but you have decided that person is your nemesis for life? Or is it just me?

The reason I ask is because today I came across an old school photo of mine. When I was about six I forgot to tell my mum it was school photo day till the evening before, my mum mentioned it to our neighbour and said I needed my fringe cut but it was too late to get it done, the neighbour said not to worry she was a hairdresser she could do it, my mum sent me round with no supervision and this woman put a bowl on my head and cut my fringe and the sides of my hair Not only did I have to go to school the next day with a bowl haircut I had to have a pic taken. My dad loved that photo tho, said not only did he love the haircut he also loved the look of murder in my eyes.

Anyway, she moved away when I was about 9, but I still remember her.

There's a photo of me circa 1965 with a pudding bowl haircut. My dad bought hairdressing scissors to save money.

It was around the same time that my mum made me some pe shorts from a pair of old, floral curtains.

It's a miracle I made it out of primary school alive let alone with my dignity intact.

They aren't my mortal enemies though. I save that for the person who laughed at my Clarks sandals.

You should be careful who you choose as your nemesis as they reflect on you. If it’s a high school bully that peaked before 16, that just makes you look petty.

Choose your nemesis wisely and with discretion. Never let them know until it’s too late

I saved my pocket money when I was 12, convinced the hairdresser at the end of my street my parents were fine with me getting my waist length hair shaved off,I got a grade two all over like Sinéad O'Connor, I loved it! My parents not so much, think I'm still technically grounded!

I went and got myself a skinhead hair cut My mum went nuts and wouldn't let me go to my grandma's anniversary celebrations.

My mum used to make all our clothes and for some reason would make the dresses extra short so there are all these photos of me with dresses that barely covered my knickers and all you cam see is my fat chubby legs hanging out the bottom if them.

She made a lot of questionable choices when I was young but she's forgiven. But I don't have a nemesis that stands out in my mind

I didn't have Clarks sandals, but again another school photo, my nan had bought me a mauve coloured knee length velvet dress, with lace arms and a lace bib on the front, I HATED IT so did my mum, unfortunately my nan was staying with us and said I should wear the dress she had bought me for the school photo, that was also the day me and my mum found out I am allergic to velvet, I looked like a tomato!

My oldest sister's best friend had just started hairdressing and offered to cut my hair I was about 10 and I was very nervous,she told me not to worry and stop being a baby just a few seconds later sliced my earlobe in two with the scissors.

I've never seen so much blood in my life since, I think she genuinely thought she had killed me lol.

She actually gave up hairdressing after that, true story.

No, not really, I'm not sure I do.

But do remember when my much older cousin had a short-term desire to be a hairdresser and was in training, so we convinced my Mum to let her have a go on mine. I was at the barbers the next day to correct her handy work, and ended up with a much shorter back and sides than I wanted!

This description is hilarious, but a bowl cut is universal - it is (was?) the standard haircut for children in many parts of the world. I'll admit it's more common for boys to get one but at 6, not too much of a difference. Honestly, the neighbour lady sounds like someone you can be reminisce about than a nemesis!

No enemies for me, I don't think.

Although I was a bit older.. about 17.

(I'd grown it long after leaving school.)

After buzzing it all off no-one knew who I was when I went back to college after..

Having enemies is a waste.

They won't care a jot so only I would lose time and energy.

I have people I would never choose to be in the company of. Kind of normal.

I have one rather persistent female fabber that likes to send me childish messages from new anonymous/hidden profiles. I think they'd be classed more pest than enemy though.

I have clippers and have cut hair for family for years.

My ex-SIL is a hairdresser, specialist client: silverhaired lady brigade.

Her hubby asked me to cut his hair once without her knowing. I was a bit "are you sure she won't mind?"

And he was adamant.

So out came the clippers and I got to work but he had an odd texture of hair and it wasn't trimming much just ends, just slipping through. So he said to take the guard down a size......

Well, I duly did. And he duly went straight to a buzz cut and the silence after the first strip was

impressive lolololol

I don't think she ever forgave me
