What should they make school kids watch?

glasgow-ish

Seen the stuff on ‘adolescence’ Netflix show in news.

I think schools should make the kids watch the 1970s/1980s public information films and the really gross water birth video that I had to watch in the prenatal classes.

Maybe also some bullseye and other classic game shows so the kids get some adult banter.

My generation all watched the Public Information Films, and they put the fear of Christ into us all!! I have never once retrieved a frisby from an electrical sub-station, thrown a firework at someone nor gotten into a stranger's car. Well, not until he'd paid up front, anyway!

Take any stupid activity begging for an accident seen in classic 70s PIFs, and adding someone with a smartphone recording it to suddenly makes what they're doing seem not so outlandish.

Screenings of Gregory's Girl, Kes and The Outsiders helped shape our world-view, but god knows what they were thinking when they put on Watership Down for primary-school kids!!!

Scarred for bloody life!!

They should make kids watch unredacted footage of an A and E department.( I'm not talking little kids, before all the snowflakes start kicking off) I'm talking from 14. They should show the results of knife crime, drink driving, d*unken fighting, domestic violence, firework accidents... Put the fear of shit into them on what the real world can be like. Not cotton wool them. I remember all the old campaigns that you just don't get anymore, don't know why either??🥴

Reality TV for careers advice for the ambitious kids.

CSI for tips on evading detection for the wrong uns.

For private school kids only, redacted OF content so they know how Mum pays the fees.

"Someone should do a reaction video to Plague dogs, 'that'll leaern'um summat proper life lessuns!'"

The ultimate answer to that of:

"What could fuck kids up even more than bunnies being ripped apart?"

The original UK version of Plague Dogs was unavailable for years, and the ending was even more grim! It's commonplace now on DVD and blu-ray, so fasten your seatbelts, kids!!!

I have many favourite public information films, and one of them is "The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Waters", with the sinister voice of Donald Pleasance.

The spirit takes the lives of kids who venture into seemingly harmless bodies of water, with s and debris ensnaring them, dragging them to their deaths.

It's corking stuff, ending with some kids avoiding death, only to hear the words: "I'll be back!!!"

I showed Monty Python to a bunch of teenagers (Life of Brian). Their constant whinging about how old and crap it is almost ruined it for me

So I'm saying not that

Maybe as parents we should just bring up our kids to thrive. Let them experience and understand the reward for putting in some hard effort, understand the preciousness of life, to respect all things and each other. That not all things are pleasant and there are some pretty nasty people in the world. That everyone is entitled to an opinion but not the right to enforce that opinion in others.

All that shit. Media isn’t going to teach them anything. People learn from experience.

I've always said, every teenage girl (from maybe 13) should be made to watch a woman give birth..... in person, from the buisness end......

Teenage pregnancy rates would soon drop!

Except I wouldn't have wanted a gang of 13 year olds, chewing gum, videoing me on their phones and screaming

"Oh my god ewwwwww." While giving birth

I finally got around to seeing the notorious exploitation film "Teenage Mother", which ends with the most grim, raw, unappealing real-like birth spliced into it.

I'm still recovering the feeling in my toes since then!!
