I prefer a proper book but I do have a Kindle for ease when I want to read out and about. And for my smut that I don't want up on my book shelves 🤭

Nothing beats the smell of books and the feel of the paper in a hardback.

I prefer a paperback, hardbacks are too heavy and they can give you a sore one when you are falling asleep. I have recently got a Kindle and it is very handy but it’s a bit of a pain having to move pages every 30 lines.

I prefer a nice floppy paperback for comfort reading although most of my books live on my kindle. I will occasionally add to my shelf trophies (hardbacks) if a book I’ve read on the kindle is good enough.

I read a lot though and couldn’t afford to or carry enough books around with me to read

couple, us we him her.

The tactile nature of holding a book, turning the pages getting to the end of the book and closing it.

A piece of electric crap can never replace that, plus there's something special about booking shopping browsing the shelves picking up a book and flicking through the pages.

I'll read articles and short form writing on my phone. If it's a book's length, I prefer the tactile nature of paper pages I can turn.

Borrowed a friend's kindle once and just couldn't get the same satisfaction as a book gives.

Both. I enjoy a real book for the feel and smell. But having hundreds of books at my fingertips, one handed reading (yes that too 😈) and the dimmable frontlight for bedtime reading means that the kindle probably just wins for me.

Funnily enough I was on the kindle app on the other window when I read this..

Probably kindle, rather than traditional books as I'm trying to save physical space..

Did the same thing with music years ago and got rid of hundreds of CDs and tapes and saved them to a few usb drives.

The kindle app works well if you already have a tablet with a big screen. No need to go and buy an actual kindle...

I've never really got on board with audio which is weird as I'm very aurally focused. I suppose it's because I'm very particular about voices and the wrong reading/emphasis/accent that doesn't align with the one in my head would put me off listening further.

Tl;dr? Too much of a twunt to enjoy audio.

You know what I actually really enjoyed using, I had a galaxy fold (before I snapped it in half accidently) and as it had a hinge you could hold it like a book and it still had a large screen.

Preferred that to my kindle or iPad.

I'm not a huge reader but for me the kindle is for traveling and experiencing new genres. You can use the Kindle to support a real book. Mainly for reading the books you know you won't keep.

I think of it the same way as a sex toy. They are great at getting you off and arguably more efficient and take up less space. But the real thing just feels, smells and handles different. And, when you have the time, the real thing provides a much better experience. Xxx

I prefer real books to a kindle. But I’m dyslexic and I drive a lot so I’ve been getting my book fix by listening by to audiobooks when I’m on the road for the most part recently.

Helps me enjoy the book without having to reread each paragraph 3 times and it relieves the boredom on the long drives.

I think Kindles are a god send for people with limited space or who move around a lot. Being able to transport hundreds of books in your pocket or bag is liberating.

There's a place for all the different ways to access the written or spoken word I think and while kindles don't seem so popular they certainly take up less room in the removal lorry when I flee from yet another disappointed lovers abode...
