IF YOU ORGANISED A SOCIAL

If you organised a social for people on here, to meet in the PUB - not a club, what would you do to get people mingling, how would you encourage people to chat, how would you announce where you're sat so people knew you were FAB?

Maybe exchange a pic or 2 to recognise them otherwise it's a gamble going up to randoms 😂

Hire the pub for the night and have it exclusive to fab members. We have had a couple in pubs and they have been amazing.

I've been to a few socials and they were groups of people at tables who already knew one another.

I think that makes it hard for newbies. I would like some icebreaker games and more engagement rather than just sticking to your own groups and not getting to know new people.

Perhaps some announcements if people are okay with it and to say a little about yourself if you're not too shy.

First and foremost to make them more fun and split groups up and do a thing where you have to move chairs regularly to get to know people.

I think some socials are really missing out on the fun element and some people are just sitting or standing on their own in the corner. Seems a shame.

We went to a social in a club and the hosts were really good, they introduced themselves straight away, offered to show us around the club, they had card games with forfeits and couples games. It was organised well and get people socialising

If I organised a social I probably wouldn't go.

I think a sticker would be a good idea, with a silly nickname picked out of a hat 🤪

Try and pick a pub that has wheelchair access to the ground floor.. Yes really, that nearly caught us out once lol

But seriously, you kinda work it out.

I've only been to one social and I glommed onto my woman friend that I knew beforehand, made a beeline for a table in the corner and only talked to people who approached me. Because I'm awkward and group things make me uncomfortable 😂

Would I want forced social interaction when at the social? Probably not!

Having been to socials in vanilla bars and clubs AND in swinherd clubs I much prefer the latter.

It's perfectly possible to hold non play events in them and whenever I've been to them in normal settings there's always indiscretion, with people talking to staff or other people outside about why they're there. In a swingers club environment you can also get away with more open conversations and/or ice breakers. It can be a lot more comfortable for people knowing you're going to be surrounded by other swingers rather than the wider general public. 🤷‍♂️

Find a pub that isn't mega busy.

Ask for some tables to be reserved please.

Have some ice breaker games.

Invite some people I know to be chatty and not cliquey.

Make sure I greet everyone, and make new people feel welcome.

Invite someone like myself who doesn't leave people out.

Make sure everyone knows its a social in a public place so keep your fingers out of each other's secret places and don't talk loudly about anything that should be kept to ourselves.

Remember to have a back story as to why we're there and how we know each other.

I'm usually the one asked by the bar staff what the occasion is or why we're there.

The first time it happened, I think I said something like we all used to work together.

If an appropriate entrance wasn't available I'd make sure big burly men carried you in giving you the entrance you deserve! 😍 ♿ 😍
